Obituary of John Allen Wilcox

John Allen Wilcox, age 80, of Dacula died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 from a brief illness. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 17, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Kent A. Branstetter officiated. Interment followed at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. The Family received friends on Thursday, December 16, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys G. Wilcox. He is survived by: Daughter and Son In-law Brenda and Donald E. Martin, Jr., Dacula; Grandchildren, Stacy and Craig Gusek, Lawrenceville, Katie and Curt Pierce, Braselton, Meghan Martin, Dacula; Great Granddaughters, Ansley and Avery Pierce; Sister In-law, Mrs. Lee Kent Wilcox, Sr., Louisville, KY; Nieces and Nephews, Raymond Wilcox and Family, Louisville, KY, George Wilcox and Family, Tucson, AZ, Lee Kent Wilcox, Jr., Carol Ann Woosley and Family, John Allen Wilcox and William Wilcox, Louisville, KY; Close Family Friend, Myrtle Knight, Lawrenceville. Mr.Wilcox was a native of Louisville, Kentucky and lived in the area the past 22 years. He attended the old Ballard Grade School in the Harrod's Creek area and graduated from the Louisville Male High School and attended the University of Kentucky. He was employed with the Louisville Courier Journal. He later moved to California where he worked with the San Jose Mercury News and the San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle / Hearst Publishing where he retired. Mr. Wilcox was member of St. Edward's Episcopal Church, Lawrenceville.
