James F. "Jim" Kirk, Jr. age 57 of Hoschton, formerly of Buford, died suddenly on Saturday, February 14, 2004 while visiting in Pensacola, Florida. A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Charles Walls officiated. Interment followed in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family received friends on Wednesday, February 18, 2004 from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions were made to the American Heart Association, 1353 Jennings Mill Road, Suite A, Bogart, GA 30622.
Surviving are: Wife, Ellen Kirk, Hoschton; Daughter and Son In-law, Kimberly and Kyle Openo, Tucker; Daughter, Ginny Kirk, Pensacola, FL; Son, Tripp Kirk, Hoschton; Sister and Brother In-law, Barbara and William Bellinger, Marietta; Mother In-law, Virginia Boisseau, Colonial Heights, VA.
Mr. Kirk was a graduate of Roswell High School and a graduate of the University of Georgia, class of 1968. He was a veteran of the US Army and actively involved in coaching children's sports, baseball, basketball and softball with the Buford and North Gwinnett Athletic Associations and also treasurer of the Buford Athletic Booster Club. He began his career at Wolf & Company CPA's in Atlanta. At the time of his death he was a self employed CPA in Buford, an avid fisherman at Lake Lanier and the west coast of Florida and a member of New Prospect United Methodist Church, Buford.
