Obituary of Journey Preston Gower

Journey Preston Gower, age 94 of Buford, Georgia, died Saturday, March 25, 2017 after a brief illness. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 3390 South Puckett Road, Buford, GA 30519. Journey was preceded in death by his wife Rachel Morris Gower, son Preston Gower and grandson Jason Gower. He is survived by his children David and Gayle Gower, Buford, Eddie and Sula Gower, Buford; Daughter in-law, Betty Gower, Atlanta; Grandchildren, Jeff Gower and wife Pam, Matt Gower, Adam Gower and wife Megan, Katie Duncan and husband Max; Great Grandchildren, Courtney Gower, Katelin Gower, Jason Gower, Christian Gower, Hayden Gower, Kaleb Gower, Kohen Gower, Jackson Perry, Ryland Perry; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Journey was a lifelong resident of Buford and retired from General Motors Lakewood Plant. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Buford Masonic Lodge #292 F&AM, Gwinnett Daylight Lodge #744, Taylor Chapter #48 Royal Arch Masons, NT Pirkle Counsel #65 Royal & Select Masters, past Master and past High Priest.
