Obituary of Montie Brogdon Thompson

Montie Brogdon Thompson, age 92 of Buford, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Wayne Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. The family request, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to First Baptist Church Buford, 4550 Hamilton Mill Road, Buford, GA 30519. Montie was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Thompson and daughter Deborah Thompson Whiting, her parents Hardy T. Brogdon and Myrtle Burrell Brogdon and her siblings Burl Bridges, Bobbie Brogdon, Jimmie Kelly, Dorothy Hosch, Jewell, Pirkle and Hardy T. Thompson, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Carol Thompson Cheek and husband Larry Cheek, Buford; Grandchildren, Judd Wesley Cheek, Buford, Carmen Cheek Reed and husband David, Gainesville; Great Grandchildren, Paige Smith, Judson Cheek, Carson Reed; Caregivers, Florica and John Todorut at Sunshine Residential Care; Several Nieces and Nephews. Mrs. Thompson was a lifelong resident of Buford. She retired as a teller from First Federal Bank, Gainesville and later retired from Lovable Co., Buford. She was a member of First Baptist Church Buford, a member of the Daisy Shadburn Bykota Sunday School Class, a member of the Silvertones Choir and a member of the Abundant Life Fellowship.
