My condolences to the Norwood family. I spent 4 years working with Chuck at the Belk Stores Market shows in Charlotte. We both were repping MBP Neckwear. Chuck invited me to partner with him at the booth to be responsible for the Virginia Leggett stores.
My fondest memory of Chuck was interacting with others; he was just a nice cool Southern Gentleman. We had so many Laughs and such great meals and time together. He always talked about playing tennis.
I said, let's play, Well we went out, and he kicked my butt, he wore a Knee brace and tore me apart on the court, I was talking smack, and he was laughing all night.
He loved sports and loved his family; he always talked about his wife and his daughter. So proud of them.
Giving he was, his standard opening line at the show to a tie buyer was, "Hey Danny, come get yourself some strings." That would start a memorable sale.
14 years later, I saw him in NY, even though he was ill he knew I was surprised to see him like the way he looked. He said no more than come over here Eric and give me a hug.
Thanks, Chuck, I loved you and will miss you. Rest in peace Chuck, see you on the other side one day, we will play that tennis match again.

Prayers for the family. I was employed with Berle Distribution center in Hartwell Georgia when Chuck was affiliated with them with Overton. He was such a polite caring person. When he came by he would always go to Subway for lunch and would ask me and my co worker what we wanted for lunch. Brenda, my co worker were both saddened to hear yesterday that he had passed. As we read his obituary we smiled and certainly agreed with every word about his caring for others and all the words that described what a wonderful human being he was. Your family has been very blessed to have had him with you. My husband passed in 2010 and I will continue prayers for all of you in the coming days.

I am so blessed to have had Chuck in my life. Not only was he a great business associate, but more importantly a friend and mentor. He always greeted me with smiles and his can do attitude was infectious. I loved that he called me "Wade"....Early on in our relationship he forgot my name and mistakenly called me Wade! I called him out on his mistake and we shared a good laugh. Well, Wade stuck and only Chuck was allowed to call me Wade! It became a sort of term of endearment. He sage advice will stay with me forever and so will his memory. I will miss you Chuck!

Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and the family for a long period of time--praying that Chick would be healed. He is now at peace and had such a wonderful life with all of you. I remember his smile so in times of sadness, remember his smiles! I love you all! We regret that we could not be there for his celebration of life.

Words are never adequate in moments like these. We will say though, that the Hudson's have been very blessed to have Chuck Norwood in our lives. There are many good attributes of Chuck...a good husband, father, businessman, mentor, friend, competitor and most importantly a good Christian. Chuck was just a good man, period. We will always remember the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing Chuck. He embodied 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." We love you Chuck. The Hudson's

Chuck was an excellent example to all men. His was a life full of love, kindness, humility and bravery. Taken so soon from those who love him, our solace is in knowing he is now with our loving Savior, and that he is no longer suffering, but smiling down at his loving family and friends.

Dear Dianna: My heart is breaking now for you and your family over the loss of Sweet "Chuckles" as we called him. I wasn't aware of his illness or I would have contacted both of you sooner.
Bobby and I will not be able to attend your service for him, but I want you to know how I will pray for you as your praise and celebrate Chuck's rich life filled with love and laughter. I hope that your hole of pain in your heart will soon be filled with all the special memories you shared and hopefully gain new strength to carry on as I am sure he would want for you. with a heavy heart , may he rest peacefully, always Merrie Beth Donehew

My deepest condolences for the loss of your dear loved one. While nothing will completely take away your grief by meditating on Gods promises found in the Bible you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. My family and I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

My heart is so heavy! I was blessed to live across the street from Chuck for years--- He was my friend, neighbor and sometimes boss when he needed me. He was one of the most loving husbands and fathers that I have ever met. He always put everyone else first. He has been so giving to me and my children. Chuck hired my daughter as an intern for them during the summer. We will forever be grateful for all the opportunities you gave us. We love you Chuck!

Well, we lost a good man here, but when we see Chuck again we will discover he has been helping people in heaven just as he was helping those here. Yes, Chuck was my brother-in-law (we married twin sisters), but to me he was so much more than that… He was my friend for 38 years. During those years we lived right down the road from one another. I know the man Chuck was, and the man he will always be to me. While Chuck generally had a very calming spirit, he was a tiger when it can to competition. Whether we were playing tennis, golf, croquet, cards, bowling, or whatever, we always enjoyed trying our best to beat the other. Never would he quit, and I liked that! Over and over again, very time I met someone who knew Chuck they would say to me, “I know Chuck… He’s a great guy.” Those seven words defined Chuck. You hear people say all the time there’s just no integrity in the world today. Well I say to those, you simply are not looking in the right places and you obviously never met Chuck Norwood. Chuck set the example for so many people. I know there were many times I would ask myself… What would Chuck do in this situation. That question asked of myself always helped me with my decision. Yes, Chuck, you were my brother-in-law, but you were much more than that… You were my good friend. And if they don’t have tennis courts in heaven would you look into that… We have a tie-breaker to finish! See you on the other side Chuck. Love you brother! RIP!!!
