Obituary of Ann Vaden Lea

Ann Vaden Lea passed away on Oct. 21, 2017 in Snellville, GA. Funeral services will be held at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 18 at 1:00, with Rev. Jason Mincey officiating. Mrs. Lea was raised in Hamlet, NC, by her beloved mother and step-father, Gertrude and Morris Jordan. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She loved the music of Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller, and she loved to dance-especially at Wrightsville Beach, under the Lumina band shell. Mrs. Lea is survived by her daughters Gail Lea McKoy and Marty Lea Donnellan, and their spouses Larry McKoy and Mike Donnellan. She is also survived by her son, Lewis Lea, and his wife, Bonzie Deakins Lea. She always said that her children were her greatest achievement. She has several much-loved grandchildren: John McKoy, Lindsay McKoy, Ashton Lea Castagna and her husband Nick Castagna, and Sunny Donnellan. She also has one great-grandchild, Hadley McKoy. Wherever she lived, she was always surrounded by their pictures, and kissed them each morning. Mrs. Lea is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Sumter Lea. Nobody ever looked better in an Army uniform. He learned to dance, just for her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joy Community Kitchens, Inc., a non-profit local charity that feeds over 100 needy families weekly.
