George Morris Crumbley, age 81 of Auburn, GA died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Auburn. Rev. Chris Parkin, Rev. Lee Sass and Rev. Warren Gardner will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Morris is survived by his wife, Velma Porter Crumbley, Auburn; children, Steve Crumbley and wife, Polly, Winterville, GA, Joseph Crumbley, Gainesville, GA, Sherry Horn, Melbourne, FL, Julia Wettrich and husband, David, Ridgeland, SC, Cindy Carpenter and husband, Jimmy, Monroe, GA; Thirteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister, Rachel Pounds, Junction City, GA; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Hinton Porter and wife Sue, Martin, GA, Sue Wages and husband, Doug, Auburn, GA, Kenneth Porter, Buford, GA. Morris was born in Stockbridge, GA. During his career with Chevron Oil he had lived in Buford, GA, Birmingham, AL, Brandon, MS, Winter Gardens, FL and Friendswood, TX. He was retired from Chevron Oil Company and Peoples Bank and Trust in Buford. Morris was an ordained Deacon, a member of First Baptist Church, Auburn and a member of the Lions Club. He was active in church throughout his life. He was a great husband, dad and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
