Obituary of Betty Jo Adams

Mrs. Betty Jo (Cheek) Adams, age 88, of Buford, Georgia, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. G. Stephen Wood will officiate. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Troy Vernon Adams; her parents, Luther Grady Cheek and Lemon Wayne Cheek, and brother Royce Everett Cheek. Survivors include: Son and Daughter in-law, David C. Adams and Sally Adams, Atlanta; Daughter, Donna Adams Pittman, Buford; Son, Bruce L. Adams, Lakeland, FL; Grandchildren: Andrea Adams, Erica Adams, Stephanie McBroom, Dallas Pittman, Kedrick Adams, Koen Adams, Katherine Adams; Great-Grandchildren, Camden Young, Abram Emberson, Audrey Applebee; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Adams was born in Buford, Georgia and graduated from Buford High School at the age of 17. She attended the Georgia College for Women in Milledgeville, before marrying at age 18. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church before marrying, then joined First Baptist Church, Buford, GA. Mrs. Adams was a true Southern Belle, and was known for her cooking (especially homemade biscuits), constant smile and sweet disposition.
