Dear Lee and Family, Though I only knew Shirley when she lived in Moss Creek, I relished her inner light and love that she generously shared with our community. Her beautifully written words of her sustained spiritual faith during trying times should remind us all to practice gratitude, daily. Prayers for all those that she has sadly left behind. May happy memories sustain you in the difficult days ahead.

Your life's work is done, Shirley and now you can rest in the bosom of God! We will always love you and remember the contagious enthusiasm you brought to every situation and the passion you showed for those we serve.
Thank you for coining the expression "We love us". We love you and always will, dear friend!

Words cannot possibly express how grateful I am to have called Shirley a dear friend for the past 25 years and how heavy my heart is not having her with us on earth. I know she is dancing in heaven with Irma and Red and watching over us all and the suffering from this horrible cancer is gone.
Lee, Tammy, Chris Heather and her wonderful grandchildren I know how much you will miss her. I hope God gives you comfort and peace knowing the joy you brought her
Shirley was a rarity in life with a light that shone so bright and a faith so strong.
I pray we all continue to honor her life of serving God and others by doing so ourselves
Love to Shirley and her wonderful family

I met Shirley through another dear friend, Pamela Goans. I was introduced to her at Pam’s lake house. We had a wonderful time that night. Shirley and I were sitting outside and we began to talk about where we came from. We discovered that we both had graduated from HVRHS four years apart. It is truly a small, small world.
I saw Shirley a couple of more times, at my house for a girl’s dinner and at a wedding in Charleston. She was an amazing, funny woman that I was glad to know.
My thoughts and prayers are with Shirley’s family and I pray that God’s Love surrounds you during this very difficult time.

To say that Shirley was an inspiration is like saying "the sun was out today." There is so much more depth to the story! I only knew Shirley and Lee for a short while at Lawrenceville First United Methodist church where they were members of our small group, Jericho, and where I served with Lee as a Stephen Minister. I'm so glad that they were able to enjoy their time near the beach before moving back "home" to Gwinnett County, again. I was able to see Shirley once during one of her hospital visits, and I felt like I was receiving a blessing as I listened to all that she had endured, because like St. Paul, Shirley articulated the many ways she had been blessed and watched over through every gate and path. I can't wait to read her book! Frank and I will continue to pray for Lee and all of the family as they walk this trail and listen to the whispers of Holy Spirit wisdom that Shirley will be delivering to help them through. Thank you, Shirley!

I'm so sorry to hear about Shirley. What a beautiful woman she is and was. My mom was 72 when she passed, but that was so many years ago. You never forget, but her love will always be with you..
My prayers are with you and I know she is watching down on all of you.
