To Jim's family: My prayers are with you as you celebrate Jim's life and share his memories. I had the pleasure of working with Jim while he was the Vice President of Business and Finance at NMSU. He was an astute leader on the President's Cabinet and kept all of us on our toes. He would always chuckle when we called him "Money Bags". He could have been an attorney, in addition to being our CPA. He knew the legal regs, as well as the accounting and auditing regs. He advised the Regents very well and kept good control on NMSU's finances, athletics, and land. I also enjoyed Jim's stories about the McDonough clan and family vacations. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. We are grateful that you shared him with us all those years at NMSU. I appreciate how hard he worked for my alma mater. May Jim rest in peace. May God continue to bless all of you.

To all the family, I'm so sad to hear about your father and grandfather's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him and I highly respected him. What an intelligent, gentle and humble man he was. While Mr. McDonough, was quite and somewhat reserved, he had a wonderful sense of humor. I think I made him bluff a couple of times. My condolences to all the family and may God be with you all.

A great sadness filled my heart when I heard the news of Jim's passing. There truly are no words that could express the amount of love and respect I have for Jim. He was an amazing man and friend. His name is still spoken at NMSU will high regard as he left an everlasting impression on us all. Jim shared many stories of the famous McDonough family vacations, may those memories provide you comfort during this sad time and help guide you through this journey. I am deeply saddened with Jim's passing. I am also thankful for knowing Jim the last 30 years. He changed my life by hiring me at Auburn University as his Controller in 1986. We have kept in touch over the years, played some golf and enjoyed our times together. I just talked to him within the last two weeks and had a great conversation and am still struggling with this news. He was such a great person treating all people with respect and courtesy and an equally great professional. I learned much from him and will miss him greatly! If this is the same Jim McDonough who was VP of Business at Auburn University, he was a good friend indeed. His professionalism and friendliness was what I remember the most and being in the Administration of the University, he never forgot us of whom served in a staff position.
