Obituary of Kenneth Charles Rothacker

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Charles Rothacker passed away at his home in Norcross, Georgia on Saturday January 12, 2019. He was 73 years old. He is survived by his friend Jody Lee; his daughter Ariane and her husband Clint Walden; his son Jordan and wife Jessica Rothacker; and grandchildren John Walden, Catherine Walden, and Fox Rothacker. He is also survived by his brother Thomas; his sister Janet; his nieces Tracy Dunlap and family, Jennifer Winter and family, Carol Evans; and nephew Thomas Rothacker. His extended family includes Rhonda and Tracy Steele; Gina, Terry, and Lanier Paul; Shea, Jim, and Brantley Bergen; and Brandon, Kate, Jarrett, Madison, and Wade Ross. Ken, as he was known, was born on December 28, 1945 to Charles and Florence Rothacker in Brooklyn, New York. He attended St. Pancras School in Glendale and Cathedral Prep in Brooklyn. He received his B.A. from St. John’s University in Queens in 1968 and his M.A. in linguistics from Hunter College in 1976. A lifelong educator and academic, his greatest language scholarship was in French, but he extended his purview anywhere he desired, researching tirelessly into Biblical lexicography and Semitic languages. At the time of his passing he was a beloved faculty member at Atlanta English Institute. Ken loved to laugh and found humor in almost everything. He would enjoy everyday moments and chuckle at the simplest things. He had a smile on his face all the time. He would tease his friends and family and love to see the smiles and reactions. He loved crossword puzzles and could do the hardest ones with ease. Ken was also a natural caretaker. He was the first person to volunteer what kind of vitamins you needed to take and then immediately he’d appear with them for you. He wanted so badly for his loved ones to be healthy and happy. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Fr. Cyril Chay will officiate. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 12-2 PM at the funeral home.
