Obituary of Dumitru Ionescu

Dumitru Ionescu, age 90 of Lilburn, GA died Sunday, February 17, 2019 after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Matei Istudor will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. An evening service will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 from 7:30-9:00 PM at the funeral home. Dumitru was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Ionescu. He is survived by his son, Sorin Ionescu and wife Christina, Lilburn; grandchildren, Andrei and Daniel Ionescu. Dumitru was born in Piatra, Romania. He moved to the United States in 1985 and had resided in the metro Atlanta area since 1987. He retired as a baker with Cub Foods, was a member of the Gwinnett Romanian Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
