Obituary of Barbara Jones

Barbara Stringer Jones, age 90 of Buford, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband James Clay Jones; parents, Neville and Allie Mae Stringer; brother, William Stringer. Survivors include her sons and daughters in-law, Dale and Hanna Jones of Flowery Branch, Danny and Laura Jones of Dahlonega, Hal and Cathie Jones of Acworth; daughter and son in-law, Joy and Clint Cleveland of Colquitt; six grandsons and one granddaughter; five great- granddaughters and five great-grandsons; sister, Susie Cheek of Warner Robins; three nieces. Barbara was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford. She taught children's Sunday School, adult ladies for many years, sung in the church choir, served in Vacation Bible School and was a long-time member of the WMU. She served as a caregiver for many elderly patients over the years. Barbara was an avid gardener and flower enthusiast. She also traveled to all the states except for Alaska and Hawaii. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 11 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Buford. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 2-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Building Fund (3390 S. Puckett Rd., Buford, GA 30519) in memory of Barbara.
