Gene was my Instructor when I reported to Albany GA in the fall of 1971. He was an excellent Instructor who instilled in me the high standards of the Postal Inspection Service. Gene taught me all the required duties of a Postal Inspector both in audit and criminal investigations. Gene and I spent numerous hours in the field as he taught me the proper procedures for auditing Post Offices and in conducting criminal investigations in southern Georgia and in the Florida panhandle. I have always have been grateful for the time and training Gene spent with me in these early years of my career. Gene was well respected in the Inspection Service by management and the field Inspectors and he was a real asset to the PostalI Service.

Gene was a good man, always friendly and considerate. He told me stories about my Dad and was just a pleasure to meet and spend time with. His Jarvis relatives will miss him very much at our reunions. My wife and I send our condolences and prayers.
