Obituary of Esperanza Lotshaw

Esperanza Ortiz Lotshaw, age 82 of Buford, GA, died Saturday, August 31, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Lotshaw, Jr. and is survived by her son, John P. Lotshaw, Buford; daughter, Ana M. Lotshaw, Dallas, TX; brothers, Brauilo Ortiz, Dayton, OH, Juan “Johnny” Ortiz, and Jose Ramon “Monchy” Ortiz, Puerto Rico, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Puerto Rico.
 
Esperanza was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She met Paul, who was a member of the United States Air Force at the time, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and they were married on April 26, 1958. The couple eventually moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he became a computer programmer and she was a licensed beautician and they started their family.  Settled in Dalton, Georgia in the early 1970’s, she began to express and was well known for her creative side by producing hand-made lace and other craft items, and was a regular exhibitor at the Prater's Mill Country Fair, during the late 1970s and early 1980s. She also worked as a floral designer at Kroger in Dalton and organized the creation of Chrismons and other decorations and flowers at Varnell United Methodist Church where she was an active member for many years. In 1992, she came to the Buford area, and was a member of the Buford Presbyterian Church, Christian Women’s Club and the Red Hat Ladies. She also lived in Puerto Rico and Orlando, Florida for a few years before returning to Buford.

A memorial service will be held graveside at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens on October 12, 2019 at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to America's Vet Dogs, which trains service animals for disabled veterans.
