Obituary of Ronnie Ackles

Claude “Ronnie” Ackles age 89 of Buford, GA went to be with our Lord Jesus on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, Formerly of Morrow GA.  Ronnie was born on July 2, 1930 in Charleston West Virginia. 

Mr. Ackles is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Kathleen Ackles, Wife Doris Turner Ackles of 59 years, Brother Gene Ackles, Sister Ruth Lynne Wetherington, and Brother Dick Ackles. 

He was a civilian employee and worked for thirty-six years as Director of Publications for the 3^rd Army, South East district at Fort Gillem, it was a satellite installation of nearby Fort Mc Pherson, in Forest Park, GA.

He excelled in high school was on the football team and was the captain of the track team in 1949 and graduated from Washington Irving High School, Clarksburg, West Virginia.  Attended Fairmont State College in West Virginia and the Atlanta Division of the University of Georgia.

He was a member of Morrow First Methodist Church.  He was a past Master and belonged to the Masonic Lodge and was on the Director’s Staff of Yaarab Shriners Temple in Atlanta, GA.

Surviving Ronnie are nephews, Alan Ackles of Sachse, Tx., Richard Ackles of Garland, Tx.; cousins, Pat Foster of Lawrenceville, GA., and Dave Rhule, Sr. of Buford, GA., and numerous other nieces and nephews.  

A small informal graveside Memorial service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at 722 Conley Rd Forest Park, GA. at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2019.
