Obituary of Flossie Cofer

Flossie Maddox Cofer, age 89 of Buford, GA, died Monday, September 16, 2019 after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 12 noon at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Danny Newbern will officiate. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Buford. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 2-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Building Fund (3390 S. Puckett Rd., Buford, GA 30519) in memory of Flossie. Flossie was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Cofer; son, Danny Cofer; parents, Ernest and Lula Bell Maddox; sisters, Reba Maddox and Louise McDaniel; brothers, Ezra, Emory, EA, Chester, John Henry, Gene, Anderson, James “JE”, and Carl Maddox. She is survived by her children, Harold Cofer and wife Shirley, Judy Jordan, Ricky Cofer, all of Dacula; grandchildren, Kellie Spath, Anna White, Keith Cofer, Todd Cofer, Sherri Stephens, Scott Jordan, Kim Cofer, Kevin Cofer, Kayla Cofer; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sisters, Louena Titshaw and husband Billy, Buford, Marjorie Sudderth and husband Johnny, Buford, Barbara Stephens and husband Doug, Gainesville; brother, Thurmond Maddox and wife Brenda, Commerce; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Flossie was born in Buford, GA and was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford. Flossie was a leather worker and worked many years for the Bona Allen Company and then with Roy Martin Leather Company. She also worked at Walton Clothing and the Goddard School.
