It's hard to say anything during this time except we're sad beyond our ability to express. God has him now and he is finally home in Heaven.
I only know Norvel for a short time. I know he is Godly man who love his brother more than his own life. One day on during Tuesday morning prayer breakfast I heard a thump coming from the kitchen. Laying on the floor were Marvin and Norvel. Marvin sudden wasn't feeling well and losing consciousness, Norvel reach out to grap Marvin. Marvin outweight Norvel by a bunch. They both fell laying there on floor. God was with us that morning. Neither Norvel or Marvin was hurt. Praise God!
Norvel we will see each other again. We'll miss your famous scramble egg.

What a wonderful Grandpa to myself and “Big Papa” to my children! I will always remember how much you loved to have fun and how much you loved your grandchildren and great grandchildren. I will always remember the joy it brought you to see your grandchildren smile. I’ll never forget that you always had a new fun activity when we would come visit. I remember badminton in the back yard and laughing till we couldn’t anymore when the birdie would get stuck in the net. I remember ping pong and air hockey in the basement. I remember your grandchildren could always count on finding those mayfield ice cream pops in the freezer (they taste better at your grandparents house). The comics section from the newspaper was one of your favorites, and you would always save it so we could read it and laugh together when we would come visit. I will, also, never forget that the best way to enjoy a waffle is to melt the butter and syrup together on the toaster while the waffle is cooking then pour it on top. There are so many more good memories that we shared, and I’m so great full for every one! We love you and miss you.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Norvel at Lucent when I was a young man of about 21 years back in the early 80's. Norvel was always a man of such outstanding character, and he was my mentor. I never saw him get upset at or have a harsh or ill word for anyone, and he provided me an exemplary Christian example to emulate. He was a true peace maker in a sea of troublemakers! One day when on third shift at Lucent, when I returned from lunch, he had left a post it note on my keyboard detailing a call he had received from my mother announcing that my sister had given birth to a girl. I still have that note. He wrote my name down as "geo", and I still use that abbreviation on my notes to this day. I've thought of Norvel often over these almost 40 years, and look forward to telling him in person what an enormous impact he had on my life, as I'm sure his Heavenly Father has already shown him. I pray his family finds comfort in my memories. I will never forget you brother...
