William “Pete” Neal was my 9th grade Geography teacher in 1962 at Sandy Springs High School (Georgia). On October 14, 1962 I broke my left arm in a serious bicycle accident that kept me in the hospital for 10 days. After I returned home, Mr. Neal came to my house and discussed my return to class with my parents and me. He brought lesson plans and other materials to bring me up to speed in his class. None of my other teachers did that. He was a kind man who was genuinely interested in my academic success. I had no idea he had a famous sister until years later. I’m 73 now and I still have fond memories of him. Robert L. Griffeth Duluth Ga

Many deep thoughts and condolences to the family of Pete Neal. I remember when I wrote the book about his sister, Pete was most gracious and forthcoming with his memories and thoughts. I saw him and and Mrs. Neal one last time at the Vineyard at Patricia's about 15 years ago after the book came out. He was as charming then as ever.
Peace to a good man.......
