Obituary of Judy McCollum

Judy Little McCollum, 75, of Buford, GA, died Sunday, September 19, 2021. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 5 – 8 PM at the funeral home.

Judy was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Alton and Gladys Little, of Duluth, GA,  in 1946 and is survived by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Dana Jones of Buford, Georgia, grandsons, Trent and Brock Jones; sister, Gale Moates, sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Hazem Suboh, niece, Dana and Brad Mack, great nephews, Jonathan and Joshua Mack, nephew, Jared Moates.  Judy graduated from Duluth High School and Dekalb Technical College.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis McCollum, brother-in-law, Danny Moates and nephew, Matthew Moates.  She was a devoted and loving mother, Mimi, sister, and friend to all.  Judy was a member of First Baptist Church Duluth, Duluth, Georgia, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.  She had a natural talent for art, and in her younger days, she took art and calligraphy classes which she enjoyed.  She amazed us with her artistic talent.  Among her many talents was roller skating, which she won an award for Best Skater.  She was also a member of the 3M bowling league. Judy spent the majority of her career with 3M Corporation which spanned over 30 years and she retired in 2002 to spend time with family.  Judy always looked forward to family vacations at the beach.  She was an excellent cook and the life of family get togethers.  Judy was sensitive to others, caring, selfless and loving to all.  To know her was to love her.

Judy fought a six-month battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer with a brave heart.  Judy’s faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, enabled her to finish the race with grace and peace.  Her prayer has always been for all to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
