James Michael Duffield (Mike)

Date of Birth:  June 17, 1964

Residence:  Charlotte, NC

Died: Wednesday, September 29th 2021

At his home in North Carolina

James Michael Duffield, born June 17th, 1964 in Huntington, West Virginia to parents, Patty Jean and James Robert Duffield. He grew up with his two older sisters Dawn and Debbie. As a child, Mike developed a love for racing motocross, fishing, and cars. With the encouragement of his parents, Mike graduated from The University of West Georgia with a degree in Business Administration in 1988. In April of 1993, Mike met Marilyn, and after a short time they were married. Mike worked as an automotive painter for 25 years in Roswell, Georgia, and spent 15 years of that time at Nichols Body and Paint. Mike and Marilyn had four children, Austin, Evan, Hayden, and Katherine. Once his house in Roswell became a bit fuller than expected, Mike moved his family to Woodstock, Georgia.  He was dedicated to his craft and enjoyed painting everything he could get his hands on from Spiderman and Ironman inspired lawn mowers, to his kid’s (and everyone else’s kid’s) pinewood derby cars. It was while Mike lived in Woodstock that he began his career working for AkzoNobel Sign Finishes as a Technical Representative, but was a salesman at heart, and it was well known that he could easily carry a conversation with anyone he met.  Mike loved his work but loved his work-family even more.

Mike’s greatest love, however, was the time that was spent with his children.  He was their biggest fan in all that they did:  succeeding in school, building companies, careening down canyons on skateboards, catching a fastball, or kicking a soccer ball.  Whatever they were interested in, he was there to cheer them on.

Mike is survived by his four children Austin (Las Vegas, Nevada), Evan (Chicago, Illinois), Hayden (Florence, South Carolina), and Katherine (Woodstock, Georgia), their mother Marilyn (Woodstock, Georgia), and his two sisters Debbie Doll (Frederick, Maryland) and Dawn Steel (Suwanee, Georgia). Mike is preceded by his parents Patty Jean and James Robert Duffield.
