Dean Cline, 70, of Duluth, GA, died Sunday, March 20, 2022. Funeral service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 3 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Pastor Jim Street will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 1 – 3 PM at the funeral home.

Curtis Dean Cline, known to most of his family and friends as Dean, was born October 27, 1951, in Dallas, TX to R. D. and Doris (Evans) Cline. Early in 1952 the family moved to Texline, TX, where Dean attended school and graduated in 1970. As a college student at U.T. El Paso, he worked part-time at Four Seasons Nursing Home. This led to his life-long interest in medicine. He moved to Florida, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and became a Certified Instructor of Inhalation Therapy.

It was in Florida that he met Jo Ann Marie Green and they were married in her hometown of Richfield, OH. The couple moved to Tempe, AZ where both worked in hospital emergency rooms. They chose two children to be their own: Gregory Dean and Deanna Marie. Working at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Dean saw the effect that computers were having on hospital administration. He went back to school and earned a master’s degree in Computer Science. In 1996 this computer interest led to his work in the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. He returned to Tempe after the games, but the company that hired him “made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

The family moved to Georgia and made the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceville their home. In these years, Dean and Jo Ann enjoyed traveling that included several cruises. The Clines were long time members of North River Church in Lawrenceville. Dean was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Surviving are his children, Gregory of Granbury, TX and Deanna of Winder, GA; brother Ray and wife Janet of Port Arthur, TX; and sister Nancy and husband George Etheredge of El Paso, TX.
