Anyone who knew Dave in Fredonia NY in the '70s and '80s might agree it is difficult to describe his significance to the community of friends. His razor wit, wicked sense of humor, his laugh.... his knowledge of a seemingly unlimited amount of topics. A drive in his old white van to a Buffalo record store or to the Chautauqua Institute was part adventure/part education. What he shared with so many via his musical knowledge cannot be adequately defined - whether quiet jazz in a living room or as he blew the roof off BJ's on any given Saturday night. As other old friends have mentioned, he was uniquely humble, and generous. I also remember a man of high integrity. So many memories, all of them good. To his family, my condolences. To David, thanks for so much.

Dave was one of the dearest men I have ever known. He was kind and compassionate. He was an intellect yet so humble. He was a true friend to those he cared about. He taught me what real bike riding was all about and how to appreciate jazz music. I am so sorry for your loss. I feel blessed having had Dave in my life, albeit a brief time on this planet.

I will always remember Dave's intellect, insight, and humor. He had a great curiosity and hunger for learning. He taught me so much during our time as friends in Fredonia. Like an older brother. I worked with Dave at BJ's, but I was also able to get him involved at WCVF FM, the SUNY Fredonia campus-community radio station. I think he really enjoyed it, as did his listeners. I was living in Atlanta when Dave moved to the area and was so happy to see him once there... but I soon moved far away. I think he touched many more people than he realized. I miss him. Rest in peace.

Dave was one of the nicest people I met during my time at Fredonia. He was so kind and compassionate and I don't think he ever realized how many lives he touched. He was there for me when my dad passed away and I will always remember the kindness he showed me. Rest in peace my friend.

I worked with Dave at BJ's and rented him the apartment upstairs in the Victorian home we lived in back in 1983/4. He was fun, smart, interesting and kind. I'' so sorry to hear of his passing. He was legendary in Fredonia and I don't think he ever knew it. RIP David.

I have such fond memories of working with Dave college years at Charlie's in Fredonia. Best boss I ever had ! Always played the best tunes; sure knew his music & turned us on to some of my favorites still to this day. Was delighted to see him at a few of the reunions & will never forget his sweet nature & genuine kindness. He will certainly be missed. Rest in peace my friend xox Jeanne Palmer

David was a character, but a great character. The best DJ in the history of Fredonia. He knew music inside and out. He and I were house mates in the late 80's and early 90's in Reading, MA, where I got him into biking. We rode all over Mass. for a few years. Dave then got into mountain biking, and moved out to Denver where the biking was more challenging. I'm sorry we lost touch after that. Dave was a great and interesting guy and I will always remember him with great fondness and respect. R.I.P. Dave.
