Obituary of Billy Ward

Billy Doherty Ward, born December 19, 1931, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the age of 90. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Crook will officiate.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Christ Place Church or the Lymphoma and Leukemia Foundation. Billy is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Annie Louise Weaver Ward. Parents, Millard Ward and Annie Ward. Siblings, Franklin Ward and Jenny Tallent. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Wynelle McLeod, Suwanee, GA. Daughters, Annette Ward (David Hand) and Cheryl Hayes (Walter Hayes). Stepdaughter, Tammy Perry (Chuck Perry). Stepson, Kevin Britt (Cathy Britt). Granddaughter, Wendy Knight. Step-grandchildren, Tara Carnes (Britton Carnes), Tiffany Dickerson (Michael Dickerson), Michelle Fazio (Tyler Fazio), and Marcus Britt. 10 Great Grandchildren, Hannah Knight, Sydney Knight, Ansleigh Knight, Olivia Knight, Hunter Knight, Caden Carnes, Grady Carnes, Charlie Carnes, Asher Dickerson, and Annie Cate Fazio. Brother, Charles Ward and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ward retired from General Motors Parts Division, Doraville, GA. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pleasing them. He loved his church, Christ Place Church, and told everyone about it. He enjoyed making woodworks, including a lot of Christmas Nativity Scenes seen around the Buford area. He loved helping family and friends and never met a stranger. He served in the Army and fought in battle in the Korean War.
