Obituary of John Patrick Halpin

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John P. Halpin Jr. of Roswell, GA passed away after a short illness at the age of 59 on August 16, 2016. Born to John and Geraldine (Bufé) Halpin in Lenox, MA, John had a lifelong curiosity about the world around him and was a voracious reader. He was interested in discussing nearly any subject, particularly if it involved a friendly debate. Despite his protestations, he loved cats and was never sleeping on the couch, no matter what it looked like. He had a light heart and great sense of humor -- once he convinced a neighborhood child that he secretly painted his toenails. In addition to the many warm memories he leaves behind, John leaves an indelible mark on not just Georgia, but throughout the country due to his long career as a talented and highly respected finishing carpenter. John is survived by his girlfriend, Lisa Newmyer; children Jessica L. Halpin of GA, John P. Halpin III and family of GA, and Jacob F. Halpin of MA; four grandchildren of GA; siblings Jane E. Halpin and family of GA, and Alex T. Halpin and family of GA; the mother of his children Carol J. Halpin of MA, along with numerous friends and acquaintances across the country. The family will hold a celebration of his life on August 27, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cancer Research Institute or to Grady Memorial Hospital whose amazing team provided excellent care to John in his last days.
