Obituary of J. Dean Cheek

Jesse Dean Cheek, 84, entered into rest on Saturday, January 5, 2013. Mr. Cheek was born on July 30, 1928 in Buford, Georgia. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church. He served as deacon and choir member, taught Adult Men's Sunday School and also served as Sunday School Director. Mr. Cheek loved music. He served as Music Minister for 1st Baptist Church of Warner Robins and Porterfield Baptist in Macon. For sixty-five years he was a member and sometimes manager of a gospel quartet; even singing with the Sons of Jubal, the Georgia Baptist Men's Choir for several years. An avid gardener, he grew prize winning roses. Jesse also loved to golf. Mr. Cheek served two years in the US Army. He retired from Robins Air Force Base after 38 years of civil service and from Proctor and Gamble after 20 years of part time service. His parents, Clifford and Leila Cheek and his twin brother, Gene, all preceded him in death. His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 59 years, Susie; children, DeAnne Peck (Michael), Marietta, Nadine Cheek, Macon, Nannette Soles (Gene), Conyers; grandchildren, Jennifer Peck, Jameson Peck, Theresa Jurgensen, Mary ''MJ'' Jurgensen,; and sisters, Ann Greeson, Lawrenceville, Ellen Buice, Kennesaw. Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Central Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Buford, Georgia with a visitation prior from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.. Memorials may be given to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, Georgia, 31088 or Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 3390 S. Puckett Road, Buford, Georgia, 30519.
