Verna and Eddie, I am so sorry I was out of town and could not be there today. There is no word for the death of a child. They call a man a widower - when he has lost his wife. The woman is a widow - when her man does lose his life. And orphan is the word - perhaps for most of us one day. For it is normal - losing - Mom & Dad along the way. But you can look far and wide. And never find a word for one - who's had a child who died. Our prayers are with you.
Wendy, I did not put it together until I read the obituary that we are related. Your dad Maxie is my husband Jimmie's first cousin. I saw you last at your Uncle Wyman's funeral. My prayers are with you.

I shall always fondly remember the year I spent working with Jerry. He always could laugh about things. One day, while I was leading a videoconference, I was asked a question which I thought Jerry could answer better than I could, so I deferred to him to give him a chance to shine. He did, but he scolded me ever since for bringing attention to him so unexpectedly! I shall miss him, Wendy.
