We are shocked to read. We were wondering why we hadnt heard from them, he was so good to send news letters at Christmas. We were friends in the sixties and seventies and over the years fondly remember. He was a friend and want to send our love to Judy, Duane, Brian and Ronnie.

Dear Judy, Ronnie & Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during your deep sorrow. The first time I knew about Richard Vancil was when he visited my husband in the hospital. Later, after my husband's death, Richard & Judy came over 40 miles, to my home in Decatur, Georgia, to visit me and Darlene. They brought food and visited with us. Their kindness meant so much to me and Darlene. I also met Paul & Kay Ridinger and others, when they came to my husband's funeral, in Decatur, Georgia. I was not a member of Crosspointe, and had never attended Crosspointe church, at that time. I decided to come with Darlene to her church, because of so many Godly and caring people I had met from the OT class at Crosspointe church.

Dear Judy, Ronnie and Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your great loss. I first met Rich & Judy Vancil when I joined the OT class at Crosspointe Church in Duluth, GA. They were my first group leaders. It really meant a lot to me to see the genuine evidence of God in their lives-- to know that they were reliable people I could trust to share my needs. When my father died, 3 years ago, I will always remember that they were among the first responders. On the day before Thanksgiving, Mom and I had been so busy planning Dad's funeral, we hadn't even had time to think about eating, when Rich called. Rich and Judy came almost 50 miles to visit Mom and I, at Mom's house in Decatur, Georgia, and brought us food for several meals. Through all the time I have known them, their presence, prayers and emails have given me a peace and reminder that God is in control and everything will work according to his perfect plan.

I was very fortunate to have Rich as my first boss while at Kraft! I was in my early 20's pretty much just out of college and ready for the world. After working for Rich for about a year, I decided to change careers (From Accounting to IT). Rich supported me and help make that transition a reality. I'm still in IT (almost 30 years).. Thanks rich for your guidance and support early in my life.. Dino

Richard was a good man. Husband, father, friend, and coworker it didn't matter, he was always there, friendly, loyal and hard working. We had a long connection from our days in St Louis up to e-mails just last week. We shared a common bond of serving in USAF Intelligence Services known back then as USAF Security Service. That service says his country respected and trusted him as well. He will be missed by many and I will be high on that list. May God take and hold him in his company.

Richard trained me as a Deduction Specialist. It seems as though it was yesterday. I found my tape recordings of him training me a couple of months ago.. He always had a smile and joy in his heart. A very sweet person, and I am lucky to have known him.

I worked with Rich for 15+ years at Kraft Foods before he retired just a few years ago. He was one of my very best friends. A true Christian man who had enormous impact on the growth of my own faith. He was like an "older brother" to me. My heart and prayers go out to Judy, Ronnie, and the rest of the Vancil family. Cliff Mathe

I was so sad to hear about Rich's passing. I will never forget how he encouraged me to join our Men of Praise group soon after I started attending FBC Snellville 12 years ago. It was an honor to serve with him in both choir and Men of Praise, and I was thankful to see him every time Ronnie came for First Tuesday. Know that your family is in our prayers.

As I told Brian on facebook, Rich was not a perfect man, but he was as close to a perfect man as you can humanly get in my eyes. My heart is so heavy and at the same time I am so very grateful that God chose Rich to be a part of our family. The impression he has left on my life is far beyond any words for me to speak. I have thought of him so many times through the years as I would hear differant ministers' tell of what a Godly man should be. Rich didn't necessarily have to tell you what the Lord meant to him, because if you were around him long enough you would simply see it in the life he lived before you.For me, to know him was to love him. The highest honor I could give to Rich would be to say that he truly loved God first, family second, and that he always saw the good in others. The Bible says that God is love and that is what I have seen radiate from Rich my entire life. I love you all and even though your heart's are broken, I know that your heart's are just as filled with pride and thankfulness to have been so blessed by God to have Rich's life as an example of God's love, grace, mercy and guidance throughout all these years. I pray that God will give you all His peace beyond all understanding. I love you all!!!
