Obituary of Charles Edwin Jordan

Charles E. Jordan, age 74 of Buford, GA died Monday, December 26, 2011 following a brief illness. Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford. His body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 until 2PM. Rev. Danny Newbern and Rev. Paul Wade will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Jordan and Curtis "Bear" Jordan. He was survived by his wife, Judy Jordan, Buford; daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Scott Stephens, Maysville; son, Scott Jordan and his fiancé Heather Lester, Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, and Danielle Stephens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Myron and Ann Jordan, Buford, and Lamar and Judy Jordan, Oakwood; sisters, Margie Wilson, Sugar Hill, Marie Jarrad, Norcross, and Katherine Addis, Buford; brother-in-law, Ricky Cofer, Gainesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Carol Cofer, Dacula; mother-in-law, Flossie Cofer, Buford; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Glen and Susan Pirkle, Buford. Charles was a lifelong resident of Buford where he was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He had retired from General Motors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Charles also served for many years as a reserve deputy with Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department.
