Scott Todd posted a condolence

My name is Scott Todd, and I had a long friendship with Mike Flack spanning many years when I was in Atlanta from about 1991 through 2005 or so. I lost touch with him about five years ago after I moved. I was thinking about him today and did a search for his name and found his obituary listed here. Pretty sad to find out he passed away. :(
Mike was always coming over to my home recording studio to jam and also to play on occasional tracks from some of my clients. In reading the comments, I recognize both Rick and Todd's name, and met them both through Mike. Mike was a good guy, and we spent countless hours working on and playing music together. I still have many recordings of him playing, and he was often brilliant with particular guitar riffs and effects. I remember his favorite guitar effects box was a Digitech Artist, and I always used to try and get him to bring it, along with his Peavey Classic 30 amp. One record he played on that was completed, but never really released, is an album that a former girlfriend of mine named FA and I did together called "There's A Light". Mike plays on the track "The Touch" and can be heard here:

All the wah effect guitars are his parts we crafted together in developing the track. He also played some interesting slide guitar parts on one of my tunes called "Freedom To Let Go", available here:

Note his name in the credits on the song notes. And I have a few others too where his unique sonic signature is instantly recognizable, as well as several jam recordings of him in various gatherings we used to have of many different musicians. I still think about those days, and miss them terribly. Goodbye Mike, and may you RIP.

Mike was a really great guy. He was kind and thoughtful, polite and dependable. A talented musician, he could play most any popular song from the last 25 years, yet he was humble and gracious. I'm so glad to have known him. I'm missing him alot. Nancy Galbraith

My name is Rick Shoemaker. I've known Mike since I first moved to Atlanta in 1994. I met him through a mutual friend named Hal Stanley Fingerhood. At the time, we lived in very close proximity and we used to hang out a lot, listen to music, talk about music and artists, and jam. He had a vast album collection and would enjoy playing me things I hadn't heard. We were in a few different bands together and would always recommend each other for other projects. I learned a lot from Mike about music and art and being a friend. He was always there to help me out of a bad situation. He gave me lots of rides when I was stuck somewhere. He gave my two sons their first video game console. They loved when he would come over. I will forever be in debt to his kindness, humility, humor, and sensibilities. His friendship to me has no equal and no words can express my sadness. Much love.

My name is Todd Johnston. Keyboard player. Mike is the only guy I've known, in my whole life, to be able to discuss in greats lengths, all the things that were important to me. Sound, music, politics, and the 'grand scheme of life'. We would stay up all night at his house, face to face, relaxed, no worries, and talk about issues that we both wanted to learn more about, and things that were important to us. Music, vintage equipment, how to wire things up properly, or fix some really old stereo. Mike was no slacker on the guitar. Mike played in a band that had 3 guitar players. They paid him to play their shows, and put the frosting on their music. And he did just that. I remember the transformation that he went through, from being a great guitar player that you wanted to play music with, to the pro that could add the proper flavor. He was truly a brother to me. We had no secrets between us. He always covered my back if i needed something. He never questioned, or judged me, and any criticism, was only to make both of us better people. Musically, he took me on an adventure that spanned over 10 years. Technically, he helped me pursue the questions all musicians run into. Spiritually, we met at a place of peace and a clear mind. Thanks Mike.

Nancy and I first met Mike about 15 years ago thru our mutual friend Rick Shoemaker. Over the following years we had many great jam sessions at our house...Mike was such a great spirit and musician...always a joy to play with...he was never afraid to open up and let the muse flow thru him via raw jams or actual songs! No matter how bizarre (or sophomoric) my bass lines were, he could read the vibe and just wail away! Such a talented guitarist and singer...always ready to play with a smile on his face. Every time he came over he had some new guitar or effects pedal to regale us with. One great memory was having him as a part of the band for my company's Christmas party in 2003. I have been thinking of him alot over the past week...and will continue to do so. We will always miss him. I hope he's jammin with Hendrix right now. Sing on brother, play on drummer!

My name is Joe Froggatt. I believe that I met Mike through our mutual friend Jeana Cobb on April 30th, 1988....Mike and Jeana attended my wedding reception !
She had spoken often of him as a guitar player for over a year and a half and this was the day I met the legendary Mike Flack. He brought a guitar to my house for the post-party and we all jammed into the night. BADLY. I have an audio tape of the evening confirming that !
Occasionally after , Mike,Jeana and I jammed at his place off of Holcomb Bridge Rd in Norcross. I still have at least one audio tape from those times in the early 1990's.
THAT tape is truly amazing....that's how I'll remember Mike.....
We've all lost touch over the years but when I stumbled over his name in a part of the newspaper you don't want to be in, I had to see if this was the same Michael Flack.
Please notify me through this website to when a service will be held. I'd be proud to stand up and say "He was a friend of mine."
God speed,Mike Flack.

Mike was my best friend growing up since we were kids. I learned of his passing a few months ago and his anniversary would be tomorrow Friday September 30th. Mike first came to my house when we were teenagers and brought his sister's classic guitar and asked me how to play certain chords. It didn't take too long and I realized that he took off two amazing levels with his guitar talents. I would come over to his house we talk about good times and pick up the guitars and just play till we can't play anymore just having fun. I love you my brother you are sorely missed but I know you're in a good place. Until we meet again Rock on and peace be with you.
