John was a wonderful man and will be truly missed by everyone he came in contact with! As a young girl, John was my neighbor I was best friends with Sharon,I have so many memories of John & Jan taking us square dancing, clogging, but most favorite memory of John was all those times that poor man would have to drag out of bed to carry me across the street because I was too scared to spent the night away from home, not one time did he ever complain! If I ever failed to say thank you John, I'm saying it now....REST IN PEACE!!!!

It is hard to think of a world without Johnny in it. Johnny was my uncle, but for most of my early years, I was sure he was my big brother. He was my favorite playmate and the bravest hero every found in any storybook. Not your usual guy, Johnny was a deep thinker, and looked at life from his own quirky perspective. It's not every guy that takes off from the warm climate of Savannah and heads off to Anchorage Alaska... I'm not sure why he did it... but there was this song that was popular back then.. North to Alaska.. and by golly, he did it. Johnny and Elvis took off for the Army around the same time (I think). I was about 3 at the time, and I missed him every single day. I cried so hard before he left that he gave me a prized possession of his... an Indian piggy bank that he called Geronimo. He told me to take care of Geronimo until he came home. With all the drama a 3 year old can muster, I carried that bank around until he came back. Happy Day!! I am holding Geronimo in my heart for you Johnny. I love you... Gail.

Where does one start when there are so many wonderful memories of John; too many to write herer!!! Even before he was best man at our wedding he was the dearest, and closest friend to Carl. Carl and John worked side-by-side for 43 years, never had a disagreement/argument. John was always smiling, and he was such a wise man! John "stepped up" when our granddaughter Hope needed blood donors; many times, and John was always there. He WAS FAMILY. We so enjoyed being together at the Shop Christmas party, John and Jan were always sharing stories of the Blessings they received while being involved with the "Newborns in Need" Program; they were truly dedicated to that mission. It will be so hard for Carl to walk into the shop every morning and NOT see John there; he was always first to arrive, then Carl........but we so treasure the good times and memories that we will always have of John; he is so loved and will be SO missed. Carl and Jane
