Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Norman was born in Salt Lake City, UT on July 6, 1929 to goodly parents, Tessar and Elizabeth Bevan Birch. He married Joyce Sainsbury on Sept. 30, 1954 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to his marriage, he served a two-year mission for the LDS Church in the North Central States Mission and then went on to earn a bachelor's in business from the University of Utah. After graduation, Norman served as a corporal for two years in the U.S. Army. He spent his entire business career working for Union Carbide before retiring in Dunwoody, GA in 1984.
Norman served faithfully throughout his life in the LDS Church. He held numerous positions including serving as bishop of the Chamblee Ward congregation and as a counselor in the Roswell Stake Presidency. The position he enjoyed most was being a faithful Home Teacher. Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Norman has taught and touched the lives of many who came in contact with him.
Norman is survived by his only sister, Wanda King of Midvale, UT; his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Joyce Birch, and all 10 of their children and their spouses: Brad and CC Birch, Rob and Sheryl Marzzarella, Shelly Birch, Mark and Terri Farley, Larry and Stacey Fisher, Tom and Cindi Pickett, Jeff and Angie St. Clair, Lindi and Ken Gertson, John and Jenie Hunter, Julie and Marc Freeman; as well as 32 grandchildren, with one on the way, and one great grandchild.
