Yellow roses grow in heaven, Angel's pick a bunch for me. Place them in my father's arms and tell him they're from me. Tell him that I love and miss him. When he turns to smile, place a kiss upon his cheek & hold him for awhile, because remembering him is easy, I do it every day. There's an ache in my heart that will NEVER go away...

One of my favorite memories of Dad, one time he came and picked me up at Mom's to bring me back with him for a visit. I had a sucrets cough drop tin, inside were little toys from crackerjack boxes and peppermint life savers from my stepfather Jim among other things that I had collected. He asked me what I had, so I showed him. He laughingly said "Your a lttle packrat, aren't you?" I have countless memories from childhood with Dad and will cherish everyone of them. Miss you much Father.

One of my earliest memories was when Uncle Bob lived not far from our home in Richmond. I used to stop in now and then to visit. One day I noticed some liquor bottles on top of his refridgerator. I pestered him a little about what they were, he finally decided to quench my curiosity and poured 1/2 a shot. He said go ahead and try it, with no further warnings, I picked up and downed it like water. Needless to say it came back out as fast as it went in. My mouth was on fire! Uncle Bob was laughing so hard tears were streaming. He said " now you know to stay away from this stuff " . And I did. Thank you Uncle Bob.

One of my favorites of Uncle Bob was when he finally fessed up on how he got along with Linda's maniac dog Aussie. I always thought that Aussie would have me for lunch and yet Uncle Bob could approach at will. One day when we were both at Linda's together, I asked about his ability to befriend Aussie. Uncle Bob gave me a sly grin and patted his coat pocket..." dog biscuits" he said.

My son and I have enjoyed many mornings, talking with Bob about our pups, trains and just boys being boys. He was kind enough to check on me and my son during my husband's 2nd deployment and we are so thankful. However, as Donna and I have laughed over many, many times...my faorite memory is Bob walking Gizmo on a long, long, long ROPE. Not a leash, but a ROPE. Always made me chuckle. Bob will be greatly missed by the DeSouza household.

We jokingly referred to Uncle Bob as the mayor of Carlisle because he became well-known to folks through his generosity and service to our town through his church, the Lions, and his dedication to Project SHARE. He worked briefly for the Downtown Association in helping to keep the sidewalks beautiful. He had his picture and short writeups in our local newspaper several times. Loved it!

I remember one frozen Carlisle winter day trying to dig out Uncle Bob's ginormous van that had been solidly frozen in place for days because of multiple snowfalls. It was impossible to chink any snow it was sooo cold. We gave up and let Mother Nature thaw it out.

Uncle Bob always had a doggie treat tucked into his slacks pocket which drove our dog crazy! Aussie nearly knocked him over as soon as he stepped in the door!

It was Uncle Bob's assignment to husk corn for us whenever he came for dinner. It was a chore he enjoyed as he sat outside on the deck and played with our dog.

Uncle Bob brought a toy train engine to our young son, Bryce, when he visited us in Illinois. It was the LOUDest train we'd ever heard! Uncle Bob laughed and laughed about this as he was leaving...we removed the batteries soon after!

Uncle Bob and I seemed to have the same sick sense of humor. When my brother was getting married (the first time) and we were waiting outside the church...there was a pot of flowers sitting there. So I asked Uncle Bob if we should pick the flowers and throw them at the bride and groom. He said, "Heck no, let's just throw the whole pot!" I still laugh when I think of that!! He was definitely one in a million!! Uncle Bob...I will miss you. Please give Mom and Dad a hug and kiss for me in heaven!!!!

Bob was a valuable member of the community here in Carlisle, PA. He was active in the community, volunteering with the food bank, the downtown association and the local Lions Club, to name a few. He once stopped by my office selling Lions Club brooms. He said, "I don't know what mode of transportation you currently use, but you may want to consider one of these!" That was Bob! Such a great sense of humor. He is certainly missed up here in Carlisle.

Dad made great homemade wine and used to put up different varieties of white and red. He tried to make dandelion wine once and never attempted it again after the batch he was leaving to "work" went bad. He said it took weeks to get the smell out of the house! He would use good old Welch's grape juice if he couldn't get a good batch of grapes. Does anyone remember the names he put on his wine bottles?
