To Karen and other family, friends- I pray that you receive peace and comfort from God during this difficult time. I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve but just from the above comments it is clear that he touched many and will truly be missed. Please know that death was not God's intended purpose for humans and he does care about you. He will soon undo all the sorrow and pain we experience now. Until then, please pray and rely upon him for power beyond what is normal to make it through the coming days and weeks. John 5:28,29
Take care

Dear Sheffield Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. This was such sad news to hear. I knew Steve from growing up in LaGrange. I remember him as fun-loving and always easy-going. He was quiet but had a quick wit and funny sense of humor. He was truly a kind person and just a great guy. I know he is greatly missed, and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear sweet Karen, Jordan, Evan and family,
We have been praying for you and the family as you stood by Steve as he tried so hard to live to be with you. Buck and Kathy were so kind to keep us informed and we didn't want to bother you with phone calls. Clay and I remember when we were losing Jill and all of the long days and nights at the hospital; we wanted the phone calls but yet, we received so many that it was hard to get any rest and also take care of " Baby Jake"
The days and years that Steve was there to love you and share wonderful memories that will last a lifetime; it seems that Steve never missed an opportunity to make others happy.
I think Steve would remind us all that we should love our own families and friends and most important always let them know how much we care on a daily basic.
My sweet Karen,
I know that you never believed that you could be so strong until you found you had no other choice--- And with Jesus by your side, you will make it.
Losing Steve on that Thursday morning hurt you so deeply but the family's loss was equally Heaven's gain. Steve is now being comforted, loved and protected in Heaven. No more Pain, no more fight to try to live... Steve can now lay his head on Jesus' shoulder, he is protecting his warm and tender soul next to his.
We can thank our Dear Jesus, for keeping Steve company until you meet again.
Karen, I know now, that these words don't bring you much comfort so we can only send our love and prayers to you. And remember, you were always my sweet little niece and please know that you can call me, Alan, Lisa,or Clay any time you need us or if you would like to come to Auburn for a visit. I would love to be with you at this time but I had to have oral surgery on Friday. love, Your Aunt Martha and family, 334-703-2985

I first met Steve and Karen when our daughters, Jordan and Ashton, became friends in elementary school. Steve was a soft spoken and Karen was very outgoing. Their family was one of the sweetest and most welcoming families you could ever meet. They each had a way of making you feel at home like family when you were in their presence. I love this picture of Steve as that smile is what I remember most when I think of him. When Ashton and I first heard the news we were so heartbroken for Karen, Jordan and Evan and yet one of the first things we said was "remember how he was always smiling that big friendly smile of his....." As I got to know Steve and Karen more, I was surprised to find that beneath his soft spoken, gentle character he also had quite the witty humor and when you least expected it he had a way of making you laugh. To my children and myself, Steve was a beautiful example of a true family man, devoted to his wife and children and always willing to help all who might need it, but so obviously in love with his family. I know he was a blessing to them and will be missed by all. Our hearts go out to you Karen, Jordan and Evan and we are holding each of you in our prayers. We love you all!! Michelle, Ashton, Amanda and Casey
