Obituary of Camp Jones Thornton

Camp Jones Thornton, age 91 of Buford, GA died Thursday, April 21, 2011. Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 24, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Doyle Thornton will officiate. Interment will follow, including Masonic Funeral Rites, at New Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Buford. The Family will receive Friends on Saturday, April 23, 2011 form 2-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by His Father and Mother, Rueben Washington Thornton, Sr. and Lula Estelle Jones Thornton. Sisters, Lou Ann Brogdon, Estelle Weaver, Mary Haney, Lula Mae Fowler, Joanna Wallace and Minnie Thornton. Brother R.W. Thornton, Jr. Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife of 66 years Winnie Hughes Thornton, Buford, Daughter and Son In-law, Dollie and Lamar Duncan, Jacksonville, FL. Son and Daughter In-law, Rodney and Anita Thornton, Buford. Grandchildren, Brad Duncan and Wife Dani, Michael Duncan and Wife Cassie and Brian Duncan. Great Granddaughter, Hannah Duncan and Great Grandson to be born in August. Brother and Sister In-law, Tommy and Pasty Thornton, Buford. Brothers In-law, Allen Haney and Hoyt Fowler both of Buford. Several Nieces and Nephews. Mr. Thornton was a native and lifelong resident of Buford. He was a retired Commercial Carpenter, local union 225, a member of the Buford Masonic Lodge 292 F&AM where he earned his 50 year apron. He was Past Master (1957), past High Priest Buford Chapter 48, and a member of New Bethany Baptist Church.
