JJ was one of my all time dearest friends. I knew her for nearly 12 years. We had many laughs, lots of girl talk, shared a few songs, and some tears too. She was one of the most inspiring and uplifting persons I've ever known. And, wether joined at the hip or distanced with our busy lives, I've held her in a special place in my heart always.
JJ had a way about her. She could always lift your spirit no matter what you were facing or what she was facing for that matter. She could always find something to smile about and had a contagious laugh. Her talent and voice were bigger than she was! She was truly beautiful.
JJ loved the Lord, her husband, and her children fiercely and passionately. She often spoke of Mike as being her "prince charming", her "soulmate", and her "MAN". She was a devoted wife and mother, and one of those true friends that are so few and far between.
I didn't know that she had passed until a few weeks ago. I called her to see if I could go visit her and introduce her to my new baby born this past Christmas day and catch up on all the stuff we've missed out on in each others hectic lives. I didn't get to speak with her. Instead, Mike shared the heartbreaking news that JJ had passed, and the very difficult time she went through at the end. My heart crumbled and I cried feeling like I didn't get to say goodbye. But, then I realized there's no need for goodbye, I will have that visit someday. She's home...JJ's home with our Father in Heaven.
JJ touched so many lives and you can believe she's going to keep touching your heart in some way. In fact, this past Valentine's day, she told her husband she loves him. Before her death she pre-arranged tulips to be delivered to him. That's JJ......full of surprises, full of love, full of kindness, thinking of others- even when she's at death's door.
JJ, you are so missed and so loved. I can't wait to see you again some day.....
Love,
Autumn Pangyanszki

Dear Jacinda,
A few hours ago, I sat down and wrote you an email. After it was sent I decided to search you on the internet to see if I could find anything more on our type of muscular dystrophy. When I saw the word "Obituary" I immediately stood up and walked away. My heart sank in disbelief.
To my left is a pile of crumpled Kleenex. To my right is a burning candle.
The last time we spoke, I was outside where the grass was green and the sun baking the sky, children posed in a sculpture garden as I sat observing from the top of a hill, and you sang so sweetly on the phone. I let the tears trail down my cheeks. There was so much power to your voice every time. Like your voice was stronger than the pain you endured. You were a motivator in fighting through this rare disease and you will continue to be my inspiration.
Only a couple nights ago, I discovered an artist. Tonight, I played this song for the first time, and just a moment into the song, did I read the news of your death. I don't know if it is a sign or merely a coincidence, but the lyrics grasped me and the music filled my apartment. Clare Maguire - "Hope There's Someone" (Antony & The Johnsons cover). I believe the Lord took you by the hand and led you in. I believe that you are in comfort and you are with him in Grace.
Though we never met, you left a print on my heart and your voice sings beautifully in my memories.
Sincerely,
Betsy Dopf

I met Jacinda in 2010. Unfortunately I did not spend a lot of time with Jacinda, but my daughter got to spend the night with her and told me how much she loved Gracie's mom. After a two hour phone conversation with JJ I could easily see why! That was more than enough time to see what a beautiful person she was. She was so easy to speak with and so inspiring. I rejoice that she is with the Lord and that we all may get to be with her again.

I first met JJ at Tanya & Matt's in Tampa. We were performing a number of old blues tunes and standards which we had done a zillion times before when she showed up. She came to the front of the shop, took the microphone and delivered a powerhouse performance. Suddenly I remembered: we were there to entertain people, not just to go through the motions! She took it to a whole other level, and inspired everyone there that night to sing their hearts out...and indeed, we did.

I did not know JJ well at all, only met the beautiful woman once. But because of her and being invited to her parents home to hear her sing, it put other beautiful people in my life. Because of that evening, I now have a relationship with Leah, Eddie and Nancy that I would not have had, if not for that night. So I was blessed to not only hear her melodic voice and have that as a memory, I have some quality relationships as a result. Thank you JJ. Our paths crossed only briefly but it impacted my life. Rest in peace.

My dear JJ, I miss you so much today that my heart is breaking. Oh what I wouldn't give to look into those beautiful brown eyes and to hold you one more time. I am so grateful for the short years that we had. You will always be my baby girl and my wonderful grown up daughter. Love you the most, Momma

I remember a few years ago when my daughter Debbie (her sister-in-law) was throwing JJ's brother John a surprise 30th birthday party, she and Kim flew in as a surprise. Debbie sent John to the airport to pick a friend figuring what are the odds that he would see his sisters since it is a huge airport . When John got there he was waiting outside and all of the sudden he saw Kim from a distance and was wondering if that was really her but figured there is no way she would be there then he saw JJ and he knew it was his sisters. He asked why they were in Houston. All JJ could say is "surprise".
I didn't spend a lot of time with JJ but when I did she was aways happy. She was larger then life and you could't help but smile around her. She will be missed.

Mary, Tim, Shelby, Jake and Samantha Phipps: I first met JJ just after she and Mike were married. We had some great times back then and we have all grown up alot since then! :) The thing that I will remember most about her was her love for life. She had a great smile, a great laugh and had a way of making you feel so good after spending time with her. She had such a strong faith and always loved sharing her strong commitment to the Lord. She had a special love for Mike and lit up whenever she talked about Kristopher, Kaleb and Gracie! We will miss her very much! We wish we could take away your pain. I hope you find comfort in knowing that she is in heaven with her Lord and Savior and is singing with all the angels - I can picture her now! :) WE LOVE Y'ALL!!

Jacinda was hyperactive, full of life, curious, happy and so loving as a very small child. She was my 3rd child and I prayed more than once for patience. I asked God once why she was so obstinate and determined to do what she wanted to do. The night she died He answered my prayer. God spoke to me and said "I knew you wanted as many years as you could with her and I knew she was going to need all the strength and determination she could muster to give you those years and such a wonderful husband and 3 awesome grandchildren". Thank you Lord for blessing me!!! I will love and miss you my child for the rest of my life and thank you for loving me for the rest of yours. Momma

While Scott and I were driving home from the hospital Saturday night, in disbelief that she was actually gone. A very upbeat song came on the radio, at first I thought to turn the radio off considering our mood, but then I listened to the words: "I'm walking on sunshine - I feel the love, I feel the love, I feel the love thats really real", and I told Scott that his sister was sending him a message. We love you Cinda and miss you!

Cinda loved proving people wrong. She was told by doctors at the age of 10 that she wouldn't live to her 20's, and that she would never be able to lead a normal life. Instead, she lived to be almost twice that age, had three beautiful kids, and aspired to a career in nursing. She had a very pretty singing voice, and enjoyed writing songs and singing with family and friends.
JJ loved meeting people and always had a ready smile and an interesting story to tell no matter how bad her pain was, or how uncomfortable she might have been. She enjoyed helping others any way she could, and was very compassionate of others suffering as she herself suffered more pain than most of us can possibly imagine.
She was very interested in the human body, and loved talking about alternative therapies and natural healing. She could talk for hours about natural medicine, spiritual enlightenment, and many other subjects. No doubt she would have been a wonderful nurse if she had been able to.
Cinda was fascinated by the fact that she was scheduled to have the battery replaced in her pacemaker, her link to life, at 11am on 1/11/11. That is quite auspicious as 11:11 in numerological terms represents a positive connection and a gateway to the mysteries of the universe and beyond. Cinda has stepped through that gateway and is in a much better place now where pain and suffering no longer exist.
Several days before she passed, she asked me to forgive her for anything she may have done in the past to upset me. Of course, I did (and do) forgive her as I hope she forgave me for any mean or stupid things I ever said.
She asked only that we remember the good times, forgive her (and ourselves) for the difficult times, and celebrate life.
We love and miss you Cinda! See you on the other side... :)
