I have many memories picking with Roger and Randall and my Father, Benny Richie at Everett's Music Barn, sometimes until 3:00 in the morning! They, along with Sarge, Dallas and many others taught me so much of what I know about music and helped build my character all at the same time. Dad and I are so sorry we missed paying our respects, as we just found out today. He will be greatly missed, thats for sure! Our paryers are with all of you! Love you! Benny and Rose Richie

I have great memories of Roger and his love for sharing his music with so many throughout the years. Roger, Randall & LeRoy had a great influence on my learing to pick many years ago when my Dad, (Roy) and my Mom, (Ruth) would take us to the Everett house before the barn and play music every weekend. They made it look like so much fun that before long I began to learn the guitar then changing to the Bass.
God Bless You Sandra & All the Everett family.

Roger was a wonderful man and a terrific musician. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and heard him sing and play, especially when he played the fiddle. I'm sure that he and Randall are making beautiful music in heaven. My love and condolences go out to all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Roger was a man of few words......sometimes, but a fine, fine man always. There wasn't much musically that Roger couldn't do. He truly had a God-given talent. Roger and his family have generously opened up their home for many years to pickers from all over the world, and Everetts' Pickin' Barn is a Mecca for bluegrass lovers of all ages. The contribution that this family has made to the world of bluegrass is beyond compare. I can't imagine what it will be like now without Roger's beautiful voice and incredible talent. My heart is heavy with sadness. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sandra and to all of Roger's family. May God be with you.

Roger could play anything with a string on it From Guitar, to Banjo, to the one he loved to play the most the Fiddle. My Daddy use to tell me how Lee Everett, (Roger Daddy) while back in the field working, would get his Guitar out and play, he never had a lesson in his life. He had all the talent in the family and just Like Lee, He pass the talent to Roger, and Randal. I remember when Roger was playing the Banjo, He listen to Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt playing and picked up his Banjo and played the same song and it sounded the same no difference at all. Roger was a good man!! I never heard him say anything bad about anyone. Roger you will be missed!! but you will never be forgotton

I am profoundly sad. Family & friends lost a kind, humble, & gentle man in Roger Everett. Bluegrass lost a gifted musician, & the community lost a fixture of Gwinnett Co. He will be missed by all who knew him. Many who went before are welcoming him into heaven. Saturday nights will not be the same there because the... bluegrass of the Everett Brothers has arrived. We loved you dearly Uncle Roger. Rest in Peace. Late the other night, a song came to mind that Roger & Randall used to sing along with Leroy and Pauline......
Precious Memories, unseen angels, sent from somewhere to my soul in the stillness of the midnight, precious memories scenes unfold. Precious memories, how they linger, how they ever flood my soul. In the stillness of the midnight, precious memories... scenes unfold. The songs of Roger and Randall are forever in my memories.

As I reflect on the great times spent with Roger over the years, I am reminded of the words to this song that Roger and Randall sang so many times.......
Make him a soldier
(Make him a soldier, him a, him a soldier, make him a solider)
Heed now the call
(Heed now the call, now the, he just gave a call)
Then win the victory
(Head for the victory, win the everlasting victory)
He died to save us all (to save us all)
God needed another good soldier. Roger answered the call.

Roger was a great man, and uncle. The song Farther Down the Road comes to mind today...he wrote that about Mom Everett and Daddy Lee...and one line keeps sticking out at me this morning "Though he had his aches and pains, he never showed a frown." I can honestly say that in all the times I was around Roger, i never once heard him complain. He was a great musician, great uncle, and I know I have said it a lot the past few days, but a great man to look up to. Mom said yesterday, the Everett Brothers and Country Ramblers are singing somewhere in Heaven tonight. Who knows, maybe God has a Music Barn up there he needed to complete.

Roger just had a presence about him. He was quiet, humble, and gifted. All of my memories about him are surrounded with music. Whether we were at his house, at the music barn, or drinking coffee at a restaurant, there was music. Roger was my dad's best friend. Being as close in years as they were, they were more like brothers than uncle and nephew. Roger was there at every important event, unless by some reason it fell on a Saturday night! :) God bless the family during this difficult time. And know that Roger is playing some great fiddle tunes for the Maker today.
