14 years ago today at Magnolia Hall in Social Circle, GA was our BIG Day! This day was the day that I entered into a whole new world full of love and family riches that I couldn't even have imagined before! This day changed my life; yours and both of our children's lives forever. It was the beginning of the most incredible highs that I still can't hardly believe. its been two years since I lost you and every day seems to be a struggle.I had a really good summer and met some awesome friends that I know you would love. I also got a job. I work at the PINK store at the mall.Every day, something reminds me of you. Sometimes I work in the dressing rooms and it always reminds me of how you used to throw me in a dressing room with an abundance of clothes to try on always making sure I came out and modeled every single outfit for you. Sheila, I have spent the last 2 1/2 weeks with your children, but I will never be enough. I helped Allie with her prom, you would be so proud of her, she was beautiful. Also I planned her graduation party and I thought how much pleasure you would have gotten to be able to do all of this with Allie. I tried the best I could but I'm sure it wasn't as good as you would have done. This special time with the family was bittersweet. I also spent time with Amber and the girls, they are precious. Jim and I are going next week for graduation for Drew from basic training. I know you and Wayne are looking down at all your children and are very proud of them all.

As Christmas gets close this year, I think of you and all the past Christmas that we shared together as a family. You always made Christmas so much fun. You always brought your famous spinach dip, broccoli salad or another one of your wonderful appetizers. You always had a certain way we opened our gifts, everyone complained but it was so much fun. I remember the year you wrapped about 10 boxes for Jim and he had to open them all before he got his gift.

You're just on my mind today honey. Like every day. I took Zemory to Duncan Creek Park today and we had a great time. I told her that I was taking her where Mimi always took her and she couldn't wait to get there! I loved when you and I use to take her together! I had as much fun watching the excitement in your face as I did hers. I'll never forget how she and Zoey lit up your life! Later we came home, colored, watched cartoons and played with Lily. This day last year was the worst day of my life. I lost my mom, my best friend. You were the best mom anyone could ask for and I can't believe you've been gone a year. it feel like just yesterday I was at the hospital trying to muster up the strength to say good bye. Happy Anniversary, Sheila! 12 years ago today we brought our families and friends together to celebrate in our new union of marriage and family. I love you sweet girl, with everything I am. I love you for the incredibly amazing wife you were to me and the mother you were to our kids. It was an unimaginably wonderful ride! With you, I spent a lot of time hanging on with two hands, because you were simply wide open all the time! I wouldn't of had it any other way and I'd do it all over again with you in a heart beat!!! I miss you, sometimes to the point of desperation, like today. I know you see me suffer and I feel you comforting me and asking me to move on, to live a happy life and to set a good example for our kids. So, I'm trying honey. I'm trying.
I realize that all of our lives are in Gods hands and it is his plan we're following. That, it is not for us to question, but to trust in him and do his work during our lives. And in doing so, and trusting and believing in him through his only son, Jesus we will reunite and live in eternity together. I can't wait to see you again, Sheila.

orite". I said mine was orange. I was fathomed how amused you were of that tiny candy, how the most simplest thing could make you happy. I grew a greater respect for you, because I don't think of a piece of candy as a simple pleasure. To me, it's just something to eat. But had I known that was going to be our last, real conversation I would of thought of something better to say than, "me too". I regret that memory of you as well. Then very quickly your last weeks approached as all of your family gathered at the hospital in support and much love for you. The last time I saw you, Shelia you were not Shelia Akins Beining and I stood back afraid and shocked of what I saw you could barely even breath...It was the saddest moment of my life seeing you like that Aunt Shelia. I timidly walked towards you with Nana as she tightly gripped by hand and I was at a loss for words. I wanted to tell you I loved you so badly, but I could not speak at the sight of you. I hope you know that I do love you despite of me not saying it to you. Again, had I known it was the last time I'd be in your presence I would have at least said something...And then about what seemed a week later when Tim, Donna and Alicia were walking towards the family with their heads to ground, shaking and hysterically crying we all knew it was then when the angels came for you. My heart sank to butt of remorse and pain for you. It is very difficult to believe that good-hearted Christians like the Akins-Beining family could experience another death within the family. I was so angry with God and life and I still don't understand it. No one does. Why would do that to my cousins? Haven't they already experienced enough hurt for the surprising death of Wayne as well for one lifetime? I just can't wrap my finger around it. My heart goes out to all of you: Amber, Allie, Drew, Amanda and Derrick. You don't deserve this, and I want ya'll to know I love each of you so much. And I love you, Aunt Shelia for I still can't believe you are gone. It's a tragedy like this that makes people cherish life even more with everyday they spent on Earth. You will always be in the center of my heart and soul, Aunt Shelia. I love you.

As I sit here and look at your picture, I remember the funnest times we had with all of the family together. I remember when we all planned to go to Panama City when Allie, Amanda and I were about 9 years old. It's one of the most prominate memories I have of you and I will never forget those couple of days. You decided to bring down with you a highlighting kit for Drew so he could have those early 2000 blonde highlights in his hair (you were always making sure to keep the kids up to style seeing as you were one of the stylish people I know), and I remember it especially because you had joked with Chaddy to do it too. Now, Chad was not one to "follow the crowd" (still isn't) and he would not have done that had that suggestion came from anyone else. This was one of the first times that I felt like our families bonded in an "imediate family" type of way. And as I sat back that week and watched your glowingly tan body fill with the sun's rays I knew then that I felt true love for you. I had always said it but I was so naiive to understand what it meant, but then I knew....And there was that time when all of the kids: Drew, Derrick, Allie, Amanda, and Chad had gotten to go down to the beach at night to walk around and search for crabs but I couldn't go. Dad wouldn't let me, because thought it was "too dangerous" or something. And while all of the adults were drinking and cutting up, you sat with me and we talked for what seemed like an entire night; a night I will never forget. Astonishingly, I was disappointed when all of the kids returned back into the hotel room, because I didn't want our conversation to end. And from that I knew then that I admired you. I have always felt envious of you Aunt Shelia. Your smile was absolutely infectous. Your laugh...your laugh was so loud and annoying but everyone could not help but to join in with you. Your appearance when you entered a room would immediately let everyone know the party was here! I have never told anyone this, but I secretly wished I were daughter at times. The way you brought your abnormally large family together made me want that feeling of closeness with a family too. Your young, hip and upheat manner was why I wanted to be yours too....But years later when I received an e-mail from you saying you had some rare disease, I didn't believe it. I was so dumbfounded and confused as to why something that very few women could get, you got out of all of them. From there, you mentioned your body would start to not function to its full potential after a given amount of time...like it would slowly start to break down. That was something I could not grasp and sort of blew it off in a way, because that to me seemed impossible that that would happen to my Aunt Shelia. But soon, it became very evident that it was all too real. I started to notice the structure of your face was skeletol-like and not that radiance, lively face I once knew. I now wish that I could take back those years our families were in a dispute knowing that it would be your last couple of years with us. God, how I wish that everyday. Then, in June of 2010 you spun a complete 180 with the heart-breaking news you had ovarian cancer...I think it's safe to say we were all stunned. With that though, it were as if it were supposed to happen because it ended the family dispute we had for years. It brought us all together in support of you. I believe it was a sign from God, but I never thought us being brought back together would result in your death, Shelia. The last human conversation we had, I can recall, it was at your new home. You were sitting in your beige chair just arocking gazing at me with a suspicious smile and a certain sparkle in your eyes. I was curious as to how you could be so happy and alive while going through all of your inconvenient treatments (I guess that was one of your good days). I stared back at you with such love and compassion and you said to me, "I love these starburst, I could eat them all day" (as she balls up the wrapper in her hand). I am saddened to hear about Sheila's passing. The 1st time I met her was in 1969. We started 1st grade in Mrs. Baker's room at Woodstock Elem. My B-Day is May 22nd. I never new her birthday was in May. I more or less knew who she was all those years than actually was close friends. She was always too popular. But that doesn't matter. What does matter is she was a good wife to someone. She was a good mother to someone. And she was a good grandmother to someone. She loved and was loved, and with alll that what else could you ask for in this life. It is my sincere hope that God will richly bless her family in this tme of her passing.

My favorite memories of Sheila go back to the times when we were very young. We were cheerleaders for the local recreation football team. Her mom, Linda, was our coach and we spent many Saturday mornings in the Fall cheering the "Red Devils" on. As a child Sheila was always feisty and friendly. She NEVER met a stranger and she was a natural born leader when it came to being out there on the field. I remember watching the interaction between Sheila and her mom and you could see the admiration they had for each other. As we progressed to high school, spending the last two hours of each day of my junior year with Sheila became a fixture at the end of my school day. Becky Tanner, Sheila and I shared a class called IOP which stood for "Intensified Office Procedures". Maybe that is where Sheila learned those organization skills! Becky and I were thoroughly entertained by Sheila's wit and fun loving personality. I remember many days that we would just be shaking our heading and laughing as Sheila got ready for the bell to ring so she could go out to meet her boyfriend "Bud" who would be waiting for her just beyond the door of the classroom. "Bud, Bobby and Blake were three names we heard over and over during the two hour class period! During our senior year, the three of us all took part in the Countywide "Junior Miss Pageant". Looking back, Sheila was one of those people that you would think of over the years since high school and you would smile. We were so lucky to get to spend time in a little town where everyone knew everyone else's mom & dad. Sheila made life a little brighter each day for all of us with her wit, laughter, smiling eyes and warm smile.

Dear Tim and Family,
What love you have shown Sheila, she was so very blessed by having everyone of you in her life. She truly loved and adored you all. She too was also a blessed Wife, Mother and Meme. Life showed her some rough roads, but mostly love from the people who meant the most to her. It just seems such a shame to bare life without such a wonderful Wife, Mother and FRIEND. I am so very glad to have been a part of her's and your lives.
My wish to you is to remember the loving heart she had and make family and friends a priority in life as she did.

Dear Beining family,
I am Ellen's sister in law. She talks about her family alot so I have heard about all of you over the years. I am SO sorry. It is AWFUL to stumble along this road that you are forced to walk. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, take care of each other, talk, talk, talk. I am so sad for your loss and your journey ahead. My prayers are with all of you.
