Obituary of J. I. O'Shields

J. I. O'Shields, age 91, of Dunwoody, GA passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 17th at 1PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Chaplain Donna Gunter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 - 1PM at the funeral home. J. I. is survived by his Daughter, Karen Douglas, Buford; Son and Daughter-In-Law, Rusty and Cathy O'Shields, Suwanee; Daughter, Mary Shepherd, Canton; Grandchildren, Kelli Petway and husband Jason, Jay O'Shields, Bonnie Rose Douglas, Katie Carl and husband Hunter, Joshua O'Shields, Adam Shepherd; Great Grandchildren, Annabella Petway, Kinsley Petway; Brother, Billy O'Shields; Special Companion, Gail Moulton; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. J. I. was a lifelong resident of the metro Atlanta area. He was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy where he served as a Corpsman with the 4th Marine Division. J. I. He retired from Lockheed-Martin in 1987 after a 36 year career with the company. J. I. enjoyed spending his retirement years traveling and riding his motorcycles all over the U.S. until the age of 85.
