Obituary of William Leon Allen

Mr. William Leon Allen of Buford, GA, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010, at the age of 85. Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 2:30 pm at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Wayne Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 pm and from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Buford Building fund in memory of Mr. William Leon Allen. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his Mother, Sarah Barrett Allen; Father, John Bester Allen; Sister, Faye Allen Marjenhoff; Sister, Mamie Allen Fowler; Sister, Edna Allen; Brother, B. J. Allen; Brother; Emory Allen; Brother, Robert Allen; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Bolden and Dessie Puckett. Surviving are his Wife of 59 years, Jeanette Puckett Allen; Son and Daughter-in-law, Drew and Donna Allen of Columbia, TN; Daughter and Son-in-law, Stacy and Ricky Waycaster of Buford, GA.; Son, Lane Allen of Buford, GA.; Grandchildren, Stephanie and T.J. Golden of Spring Hill, TN.; Nicholas and Felicia Waycaster of Buford, GA.; Heather Allen of Columbia, TN.; Jessica and J. C. Sawyer of Buford, GA.; Great Grandchildren, Halle and Aniston Golden of Spring Hill, TN.; Carter and Madison Waycaster of Buford, GA.; Taylor Sawyer of Buford, GA.; Sister, Sara Allen Smith of Cumming, GA. Mr. Allen was born in Forsyth County, GA. on February 10, 1925. He graduated from Cumming High School in 1943. He worked for Lockheed, in Marietta, GA., for 37 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buford, GA. where he served for many years as a Deacon. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Brother. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
