Karin Rowe Larson "P-Mom" Rawlins, born April 10, 1925, was the daughter of Dr. Bertil T. and Inez Rowe Larson and the sister of Bertil F. Larson. Mrs. Rawlins spent her childhood in Pontiac, Michigan where she attended elementary and middle school. She was an active sportswoman, an equestrian champion, and once single-handedly landed a 122 pound sailfish.
Mrs. Rawlins graduated high school from Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee and was a proud alumna of the University of Michigan where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After moving her family to Georgia, Mrs. Rawlins continued her education at Oglethorpe University and received teacher certification. She went on to spend thirty years educating the young people of Dekalb County, most notable at Peachcrest Elementary School. Mrs. Rawlins retired in 1990, and became an active volunteer at Gwinnett Medical Center and was able to spend time enjoying her favorite pastimes - knitting and needlework, reading and crossword puzzles.
She leaves to honor her memory her children Kristin Rawlins, Kathryn Rawlins (Andy Zadoff), Edward "her favorite" (Mary) Rawlins, Ginny Parrish, Julie (Al) Cunningham, special daughter and devoted caregiver Janet (Tony) Lawrence, and her grandchildren Sean Cunningham, Jesse Parrish, Jansen Lawrence, Kelsi Cunningham and Keelan Lawrence, who will always love and miss their P-Mom. She will also be remembered and cherished by Mike and Nancy West and family, Margaret Cunningham and her life-long friend, Peg Lloyd.
