Obituary of Ben Warren Roberts

Ben Warren Roberts born Jan. 1, 1931 passed away in his sleep at his Buford home on November 16, 2009. A Memorial service will be held Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church-PCA 1438 Sheridan Road Atlanta, GA 404-636-1496 with visitation following the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Winship Cancer Institute, Atlanta GA. Ben was born in Atlanta, GA. He graduated Boys High and went on to receive a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The North Avenue Trade School (GA Tech) where he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. Ben also served proudly in the US Navy during the Korean War. Ben retired after 38 years of service in GA and KY with Lincoln Electric. He co-founded Fabricated Metal Products, Inc. in 1976 where he obtained a U.S. patent. He was active in church and loved family, gardening, golf, sailing and Boy Scouts. He considered himself a connoisseur of traditional southern foods. One of Ben's strong points was his great sense of humor. Ben is survived by his wife of 51 years Elinor Marthia Roberts; their sons Dale Curtis of Lawrenceville and Philip Benjamin of Miami; Grandchildren Rebecca, Andi and Sean Roberts; and sisters Toni Floyd of Marietta, Katharine Dennison of Atlanta and Verdery Cunningham of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Earl and Katherine Moore Roberts; and his sister Frances Smith.
