Obituary of Tim Mark McCrary

Timothy Mark "Tim" McCrary, age 47, of Suwanee, GA died Sunday, June 9, 2003 suddenly of complications from a stroke on Thursday morning. A funeral service was held Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 6:00 P.M. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel during which time Tim posthumously received his Black Belt. Chaplain Lynne Mouchet officiated. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 11 from 1:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Tim's name to the "Spirit of Taekwondo, Inc.", 3463-A Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, Suite 107, Suwanee, GA 30024, 770-932-8866, a nonprofit organization Tim co-founded that helps local youth develop discipline and self esteem. Tim is survived by wife, Vickie McCrary, Suwanee; Sons, Matthew and Zachary Lawson, Suwanee; Mother, Joyce Moore, Palm Bay, FL; Brothers, Mike, McCrary, Pat McCrary, Lloyd Moore, FL; Sisters, Julie Roof, FL, Lynn Lowery, NC. He will also be remembered by numerous members of his extended family and friends. Tim will be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband and father; patient, gracious and wise. Tim was very active and enjoyed running, having competed in the last seven annual Peachtree road races. Tim also enjoyed playing guitar, particularly James Taylor and spent many hours helping wife Vickie create a beautiful yard around the family's Suwanee home. He was also active in Taekwondo through Taekwondo Seoul, where he had earned his Taeguk Pal Jang. Tim earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer science from Rollins College and an MBA from Nova University. A consummate professional, Tim spent more than thirteen years with UPS, starting as a pre-loader. After numerous promotions, Tim eventually became Southeast District Manager in the IT department. In August 1997, Tim joined the IT department at Emory Healthcare where he held the position of Director of Support Services. His life was a testament to love, patience and faith. We are forever grateful for the time we had - we'll miss you.
