Obituary of Mike Orlando Snider

Irvin Orlando "Mike" Snider, age 76 of West Columbia, South Carolina, died Friday, March 14, 2008. Funeral Service were held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Platt Springs United Methodist Church, West Columbia. Rev. Paul Cheezum and Rev. Scooter Scott officiated. Interment followed on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford. Rev. David Whitworth will officiate. The Family received friends on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 6 to 8 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Platt Springs United Methodist Church, 3215 Platt Springs Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Mr. Snider was preceded in death by his brother A.E. Snider and half sister Lillian "Dutch" Zickafoose. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia A. Snider, West Columbia; Son and Daughter In-law, Roger M. and Stacy Snider, Auburn, GA; Daughter and Son In-law, Janice S. and Mark Cullen, Woodstock, GA; Grandchildren, Kerry and Lisa Snider, Brad Cullen, Tonya, Tina and Nikki Fowler; Great Grandson, Eric Fowler; Sister, Leo Henline, WV; Sister In-law, Rachel Snider; Beloved Dog, Skippy. Mr. Snider was born May 15, 1931 in Lost Creek, WV. He was a member of Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran having served 4 years during the Korean War, and employed 33 years at AT&T, Western Electric and Lucent Technology as a maintenance supervisor and stationary engineer. He retired in West Columbia and enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, metal detectors, camping, car mechanics and boating.
