Obituary of Susan Beals Young

Susan Beals Young died at home in Hoschton, GA on May 25, 2007 after a valiant fight with cancer. Born in Elizabeth City, NC on September 22, 1964, she grew up in Wendell, Kinston, Buies Creek, NC, and Danville, VA. She attended Averett College and Danville Community College in Danville, VA. She loved her work in Fort Daniel Elementary School and Duncan Creek Elementary School in Gwinnett County, work she began once her children had started school. Susan's wonderfully creative side was expressed in her craft work. In her last year, she poured all that creative energy into raising funds for cancer research and she lead a team of eight in the 2006 Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Atlanta. Above all of this, Susan was a mother. Susan is survived by her husband, Randy Young; her daughter, Amy; her son, Eric; her father, Rodney Beals of Greensboro, NC; and her sisters Betsy Lowder of Pleasant Garden, NC and Laura Davidson of Raleigh, NC A memorial service washeld Monday, May 28, 2007 at 3:00 pm at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, 1450 Pine Road, Dacula, Georgia. Dr. Dave Davis officiated. Interment followed in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford. Visitation was at 2:00 pm, just before the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends consider giving gifts to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation (5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244). The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Northeast Georgia for their outstanding support during Susan's last days.
