Obituary of Philip Deakins

Philip Edward Deakins, age 54 of Gainesville, GA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Mr. Deakins has been cremated. A memorial service was held Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 6:00 PM at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, Dacula GA. Dr. Dave Davis officiated. The Family received friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church, 3950 Hog Mountain Rd, Dacula, GA 30019. Mr. Deakins was preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Bonzie Deakins and Brother In-law Tommy Carpenter. Surviving are: Sisters, Alice Deakins Carpenter, Knoxville, TN, Jequita Deakins Gothard, Greenville, SC, Bonzie Deakins Lea and Husband Lewis Lea, Dacula, GA. Nieces, Christy Carpenter and Ashton Lea. Nephew, Trey Gothard. Great Nephews, Thomas and Tyler Carpenter. Mr. Deakins was born in Chattanooga, TN. He lived in Knoxville until he was 15 years old when he moved to metro Atlanta. Mr. Deakins was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served in Thailand. He was self employed as a hair stylist and attended First Baptist Church of Atlanta.
