Obituary of Janie Rivers Hopkins

Janie "Jean" Rivers Hopkins, age 76 of Dacula, GA, died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 after an extended illness. Funeral Service was held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Dr. Geran Dodson officiated. Interment followed in Gwinnett Memorial Park. The Family received friends on Friday, March 9, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the Family request contributions be made to: Spirit of Joy Christian Church, PO Box 1718, Flowery Branch, GA 30542 or to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096. Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth D. Hopkins, Dacula. Sons and Daughters In-law, Gary and Jan Hopkins, Cleveland; Kevin and Michele Hopkins, Buford; Grandchildren, Emily Hopkins, Smyrna; Ryan and Kayla Hopkins, Buford; Step-Grandchildren, Pamela Lee, Winder; Robert McCurdy, Roswell. Jean was born in Atlanta on August 9, 1930 to Russell and Elizabeth Rivers. She attended Girls High School and graduated from Brown High in Atlanta. She loved to read and was an accomplished counted cross-stitch artist. Prior to her illness she was very active in her church.
