Obituary of Joy Ada Ekeoma

Joy Ada Ekeoma, fondly called "Charming" by her husband, was born on March 15th, 1977 in Awgu, Enugu State Nigeria as the oldest child of seven children to Bernard and Ngozi Akpa.

Joy Ada symbolized her dedication to serve Jehovah on November 12th, 1993. She remained faithful to her vow to her God Jehovah until she finished her race for life on the night of February 11th, 2021, in her home in Buford Georgia.

After High School, Joy took to heart the wise counsel at Ecclesiastes 12:1, to remember your grand creator when you are young. She decided to serve as a Regular Pioneer and did so for 10 years through her Nursing/Midwifery and Registered Nurse education years. She set a great example as one of Jehovah's Witnesses to both her teachers and classmates. To all who knew her, she was "a real Jehovah's Witness". As they often refer her as.

A milestone in Joy's life came when she met and married her best friend, Titus Ogbonnaya Ekeoma, whom she fondly called "Obim" (meaning my heart) in May 21st, 2010. Joy relocated to New Jersey, USA to join her husband in 2011. This beautiful marriage resulted in the birth of their two wonderful and adorable children, Annetta Joy Uzunma Ekeoma (AJ) and Titus Ogbonnaya Ekeoma II (TJ). Their marriage was an enviable one and their family a close knit one. To Joy, New Jersey was home. She had some of her greatest memories with the Berlin Congreation. She loved everyone there and they loved her in return.

To know JOY is to love her. She truly reflected and lived the meaning of her name: "JOY". She was a joy to everyone who came in contact with her. Her big smile is very contagious. Her unselfish, accommodating and giving attitude make you want to be around her. Her home was a haven to both old and young. The saying: "When you are with Joy, you are somebody and you can kick off your shoes and be yourself", is true to the fullest. She puts everyone before herself.

J = JEHOVAH (Jehovah is real and foremost in her life.)

O = OTHER (Joy put other peoples' interests ahead of hers.)

Y = YOU (She always want to consider herself last).

In June 2017, Joy moved to Georgia with her family due to her husband's job. In September 1, 2017, her love for full time service moved her to rejoin the Regular Pioneer ranks with the Hamilton Mill Congregation. She remained in this privilege of service until she fell asleep in death. Her faith in Jehovah was unwavering. Despite her having one of the worst forms of cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme, she kept her focus on Jehovah's promises. When you call to encourage her, you end up being encouraged by her. Her favorite saying will always be: "Do not cry or feel pity for me for whatever Jehovah allows we will gladly accept." She continued to be a great example to others and her family, especially her children, AJ and TJ. Among her final words were: "Jehovah I believe as an imperfect person I have done my best for the children you gave us, please complete their training for us." Even in her sick bed she was always thinking about the welfare of others. No doubt her children and husband adored her.

Among the many gifts Joy had was her melodious voice. She used it to praise Jehovah. You will always hear her singing or humming the Kingdom songs especially when she is cooking. Cooking? She sure can cook! Her home was referred to by many as: "Joy, Agape Restaurant!" all kinds of cuisine, Asian, European, American and African. She loved food. She was the capable wife of Proverbs 31:10-31.

Joy is truly loved by everyone. We will miss her. But we share the confidence that her "light" will shine again for she is only "sleeping", and that Jehovah remembers his loyal ones and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. Elder Richard Walker will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 12 Noon – 2:30 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel.
