I am sadden to hear of Capt Douglas' passing. He and I never worked the same duty station / battalion; but if my memory is accurate, I had the pleasure of working w/ Hugh's father when I was asssigned to the Fire Prevention Div in 1970. Be Blessed... R.I. Tolbert, BnCh (ret.).

I have many great memories from soccer games with Hugh and Karen, but my favorite memory of Hugh is the recent July 4th we paddled our non-working pontoon boat over to the next cove from my parents lakehouse, to watch the dueling fireworks show that the neighbors put on each year. Even though he was weakened from his illness, Hugh never quit paddling. I believe that says a great deal about his character and how much he loved his family and friends.

I met Hugh when he and Karen started dating. He always welcomed me with open arms and treated me as one of his own. I loved Hugh as if he were my own dad. Rest in Peace Hugh. You will be missed. I love You!

My high school memory of Hugh Douglas was his positive demeanor...always polite and respectful of the girls. We used to eat together sometimes in the lunch room at Roosevelt High. I see that he stayed that way through life and was loved and successful in his career.

We'll never forget watching Hugh zoom away ahead of all of us on his scooter at Disney World in January. We had just been on the boat ride to see the fireworks, and he was flying fast! He was at the end of the dock way before the rest of us. We were so happy to see him so excited and happy. It's a good memory to keep. Rich and Sharon Selzer
