Almost 10 years ago -Tom, Mark and occasionally Matt and my family would meet and play softball together almost every Sunday afternoon. I think fondly of those days. Me, Matt and Brin Inman -Central Gwinnett class of '93- rode around together looking for trouble on graduation night almost 20 years ago. In a moment it seems those years don't feel like years at all but more like minutes, and you're left wondering, "where's my friend?" The world will miss you Matt. You were a good friend. I pray that God will be with Tom and Mark and all of Matt's family in the days to come.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Essex family.
We knew Matthew from the church we attended together, several years ago then recently it was a pleasure to see him again when I had to take my grandson to the doctor where he was the attending nurse. He was so sweet and kind and excited to tell me about his children. May God Bless this precious family in this time of saddness.

I grew up with Matt from the time that we moved to Georgia until we graduated from high school and then life took over... I remember when Matt played the part of a mouse in one of our elementary plays and the back drop came falling down but it did not stop him from singing Cinderellie Cinderellie...
I just had visited with him last year and we drank at Hooters of all places. Had such a good time that I missed dinner with my mom at home.
I know Matt loves his kids and will be watching over them.
I am sorry to Margie and Tom Essex and his brother Mark. I am sorry for your loss.
Matt, rest in peace my good friend. We will miss you!

I have a few fond/dear memories of Matt: Matt would come into our (Liesa Marie Williams and Melissa Davis) office several times a day and just stand in the doorway holding onto the doorknob and just stare at Melissa.... It was quite enduring! Matt and I enjoyed picking on each other at work, like a brother and sister would. Dancing side by side each other at the bowling alley, while celebrating me and Melissa's birthdays. Matt's sneezes where out of this world!!!! :) And my most recent memory: hanging out with Matt and his two youngest children, David and Danielle, 2 weeks ago at Nicole Stancel's 29th birthday dinner at Dominicks in downtown Lawrenceville. I will miss you Matt, Love Liesa Marie

We were so sorry to hear this news today. Mr. Matt (as we knew him from Sunday School) or Nurse Matt (as we came to know him at Gwinnett Peds) was wonderful with my kids! I know he was loved by so many people where he worked and at church. He was always smiling, and I'm sure he still is. We will miss him:) Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt's family.

Matt was a terrific friend to me all through high school. He helped me get through some really rough times in my life. Then, after about 16 years, I had the priviledge of getting to know him again as an adult. Our friendship picked back up right where it had left off. We would hang out at his house, or he would come over to our house. He even joined our softball team, Off Constantly. He was my catcher the first time I got up to pitch. Even though I was doing terribly, he was encouraging me the whole way!! He will be missed, not only by me, but by my children as well. He won their hearts immediately. I will not have a time that I will get on the ball field that I won't see him there. Matt, I love you, and will miss you terribly!!

It is such a pleasure to have a customer who you can also call your friend. Matt was my friend. I will dearly miss his great sense of humor and smile. Matt had a way with his patients, as my son was one of them. He always put him at ease, especially when shots were involved! He spoke to me often about his kids and how proud he was of them. To some a job is just a means of support, Matt really cared for the kids he worked with everyday. What a blessing he was to know! I will miss you.

He is Home now in Heaven, and it doesn't get any better than that.
